We signed the kids up for summer art classes at the Austin Museum of Art and decided we’d work by the lake for those two hours while they were in class. After the third day, my husband and I left the computers in the car and started taking walks around the lake. We loved it! And soon we were getting in shape, reconnecting, and enjoying simply spending time together. Despite the 100º plus weather in Austin, the shady paths and trails that surrounded the museum really energized us.
Each week we’d walk the paths and soak in the blues and dark greens, with hazy sunlight trickling in, as well as the crushed granite paths leading around the lake. I finally took a photo of the wonderful dragonflies that kept whizzing past our heads with all their gorgeous blue and brown iridescent wings. It was a great summer, and we couldn’t be more excited for the promise and excitement of fall.
