AGBCCM_6a00e398219280883300e54f401c738834-800wi

One of my favorite things about the world of makeup is how there's virtually no limit to how creative we can get!

AGBCCM_EM_Banner_AvantGardeBeauty

From bold and vibrant colors to eccentric applications and unconventional techniques, avant garde makeup is like a fun fantasy world just waiting to be explored.

How cool are some of these makeup looks? 100% over the top and 100% amazing.

It's so fun to take a risk when it comes to your makeup routine and dare to be different!

How insanely bold and oh-so-chic would it be to rock this multicolored eye for a night out? Keep lips to a minimum and let your eyes be the star of the show.

AGBCCM_summer-make-up-eyeshadow-ideas-in-orange-red-and-green

In your face hues of magenta, sunflower and turquoise - fueled by some black liner - are perfect for these warm summer months.

Add on some faux lashes for a truly look-at-me eye!

I loved it when Beyonce rocked her leopard print eye makeup.

So Sasha Fierce!

Another really dramatic look is green lids.

A bold way to accentuate green eyes, picking a green eye shadow is like taking a trip to the Emerald City :)

For green shadows that range from olive to emerald, check out I'm Keeping Your CD's, Leaps and Bounds, and Cypress.

Sporting black lips are definitely another avant garde way to get noticed!

Leighton Meester is completely owning the attitude necessary for this look, don't you think?

AGBCCM_N6xlPJZNHr36obxtQmZGs68Uo1_500

While black lips are super edgy in editorial photo shoots and on the runway, I'm not too sure how they would translate into the real world ;)

Have any of you tried black lips in everyday life? Share your story with us!

Purple and yellow are two colors that are perfect for obtaining the avant garde look.

FUN TASK:

What's the craziest makeup look you've ever tried out? Would you ever dare to try something as wild as black lips or yellow eyes? Post a picture of your wildest makeup if possible!

I'm going to pick some of the boldest and most inventive makeup looks and send Twilight Kiss, Leaps and Bounds, Rock Anthem, and Butterfly Kisses!

I have worn black lipstick at Halloween... but my favorite look was the thick black around my eyes... I have smaller eyes and a little goes a long way...so when I put all this extra black liner and shadow around my eyes it was as if I was in costume.... I topped it off with a blood red lipstick... I liked how the look made me feel like a different person and I did draw attention!

Last fall one of my friends was making a short sci-fi / fansasy film and I had a staring role as queen of the moon.

Here I am in full make-up and costume against the green screen. It took abit over 2 hours to get made-up and suited up and I need 2 people to help me when I had to use the washroom. Good thing I only needed to be there for 2 days of shooting!

The headdress / wig combo was really heavy and uncomfortable so I was able to do some real method acting. ha ha
Go Lakers!
written by Kee Kee, June 28, 2010
I have always loved playing with makeup. I can remember trying weird and outragous looks when I was in high school. One in particular that stands out the most to me, was my Lakers look. When the Lakers won the championship one year, I chose to celebrate the occasion by attending their parade. But that's not all. To show my fan loyalty I sported their team colors; Purple and Yellow Gold on my eyelids. I also spelled out Lakers on my eyelids. Boy, this was definitely a risky look. But it was perfect for this tye of occasion and it allowed me to express my creative flare. Go Lakers!

I have never ever ever seen yellow lipstick! Crazy crazy!
One crazy look I wore to a New years party was a Solid Silver eye!
Quite similar to this

I kept everything else really simple but also wore Sparkle Beige Lucent face powder applied pretty heavy to make me really pop!
My dress was metallic silver.
It was a fun way to ring in the new year

The Bollywood Collection shades were perfect for this, I also added a little bit of weeping willow in the outer corner and 3day weekend on the inner corner to add a little extra dimension

The craziest thing I've tried with my make up would be being creative with my eyeliner. I've tried bold colors for eyeliner like electric blue and I've also tried a lot of what is common in arabic eye makeup (bold eyes).

During Halloween I decided to dress up as a Japanese geisha. I powdered my entire face white, applied eyeliner and red eye shadow. It looked something like this:

Heads definitely turned when I walked out of the house. My friends also had very avant garde looking costumes. It felt like we were in a costume parade!
I would love to create a runway-inspired look and actually walk out of the house with it. Maybe to a party or a girl's night out. I would really love to try looks like these:

I remember few years back I put on my colour contact and use bright blue eyeshadow and plum liner to make a good looking blue eye along with false blue eyelashes for a Halloween party. The look really stand out and my friends love it!

Few days ago I just tried yellow eye makeup with Butterfly Kisses and Leaps and Bounds. However I found that Leaps and Bounds didn't really stand out, guess I didn't apply enough eyeshadow.smilies/grin.gif As for black lips, it will be perfect for Halloween party - guess I can try it this year if I can find the colour.

i have a friend who really likes being creative with makeup, she wanted to do my makeup for a fancy dress party.

i am glad i let her because created such a vibrant and beautiful eyemakeup.

It was butterfly makeup, where each eye had one section of the butterfly, she used really bold colors including yellow, purple, orange, and blue.

it is smilar to this, but even more dramatic:

to make it even more wonderful she used little crystals for the detail, and made it even more dramatic.

it was like cat woman mask but a butterfly mask.

i also once let my little niece to do my makeup, she used her own makeup, she so proud of it, its funny seeing her carrying around her makeup bag.

she did go a little crazy, put whole lot of color, blush everywhere, bright pink lipstick on the lips and around it, lots of eye colors, it was hilarous, because she kept asking if i liked it, of course, i told her she did the best makeup.

I've experimented with a lot of wild make-up for fun, and sometimes I wear it out in public. My absolute favorite was when my best friend and I made make-up masks out of eye shadows. It is a happy memory both because of the great photos we took and the fun girl time we shared. Lately I've been wearing Live Austin Live as a daytime look, and I love it! It's fun to wear more than just pale, skin-like colors and shades of brown.

My craziest makeup look I’ve ever tried out would be for my daughter. We had gone to a school carnival and my daughter used up all her tickets and was quite disappointed that she didn’t get her face painted so I remembered when another forum member said she was painting faces with EDM for a party. I decided to try it out since I don’t have face paint at home. I “painted” a butterfly on one cheek and a heart on the other. Here’s a pic of the butterfly that I took for that thread. The pic isn’t the best since it doesn’t really show the vibrancy of the colors. I used butterfly kisses, pressed olive, bubbletea, various EDM purple shades and a couple of EDM blush shades (I can’t remember exact shades since it was like a year ago). I think I used smokey to draw the outline. I’m not the best artist but my daughter liked it.
Crazy?! I think those looks are simply BEAUTIFUL!!!
written by Dani Joslin, July 04, 2010
I Have to say that i complete love those styles! I was a peacock last year for halloween and i wish i had done my makeup like that! Its amazing!

I have a bit of a chubbier face so i always seem to put a little pop of color here and there, being a college student i dont really have the time to do peacocks and vines, lol, but i always try to use Rainbow colors it as just as much as a pigmented form theyll come in! Its definatly more important in "crazy styles" to focus on color and not shimmer...

I always have some crazy color form on the outside lid area of my eyes, with a blended brown on top to even it all out...

But one day when im something big and important in makeup, as i hope to be, ill definatly have to try some of those looks! smilies/smiley.gif

I'm more inspired by things and not makeup that's already been done. That and images I see in my head to complete an ensemble or look for a themed event. If ever I get a spark of inspiration from a photo I always do my own spin off.

Yes those are real flower petals. And, yes those are real cards as well.

Hope you enjoy smilies/smiley.gif
