SUMMER SAND CASTLE BEAUTY!

SSCB_building-a-sand-castle

One of my favorite activities to do in the summer is build sand castles on the beach. My inner child loves coming out to play!

You may remember a while back, I created a super fun little kit that was called The Sand Castle Collection. It was really natural and pretty, everyone loved it!

SSCB_sandcastleeyecompact

This collection is perfect for usage on the go, is really convenient for the purse and comes with a super petite bamboo brush! :)

I used fanciful visions of sand castles and the shimmering, sparkling sea as my inspiration for this kit. These neutral colors are so flattering on so many different skin tones!

Today, I thought I’d search the web for some of the most out of control sand castles that I could find, and I have to share what I found with you!!

SSCB_sand-caastle

SSCB_200780234_fc97b40ea0

It’s crazy to think about all of the minute detail that go into these lavish castles! The people who build these castles are seriously like artists :)

SSCB_images

SSCB_sand-castle

While the castles I’ve created never look quite like this, it sure is inspiring to think that building a castle out of sand like this is possible!

Although The Sand Castle Collection is no longer with us, there are some other sweet, sandy shades that we still have!

The Sand Cherry blush is gorgeous deep peach with cherry undertones and tons of sparkle!

SSCB_sandcherryabove

For the eyes, take a gander at Driftwood (which was actually a part of the collection!), Sea Horse, and Movie Night.

Driftwood is a warm caramel beige matte shade that gives eyes a bright, natural look.

SSCB_driftwoodabove

Sea Horse is a creamy, dreamy cream shade that is sure to make your eyes blossom.

SSCB_seahorsesongabove_s

Finally, Movie Night (the big size, by the way, is currently $1.50 off - get it before it’s gone forever!) is a warm matte beige.

SSCB_movienightabove

All these thoughts of sand and warm beach days makes me want to be in Malibu, asap!

FUN TASK:
I want to see your beachy pictures! Share your best photo at the beach (and let me know the story behind it) for all of FAN CLUB!

Guess what? I still have a few fabulous kits of The Sand Castle Collection left, and I’m going to send them to my favorites!

Good luck!

Oh no, I don't have my family photos online but I would love to tell you about it!
Our best day at the beach was the first time I took my son to the beach!
He was so enthralled with the waves but scared a bit too. It was like nothing he had ever seen and he couldn't take his eyes off of the crashing waves.
He finally got a little braver and decided to go down by the water, just barely wobbling (checking to make sure that I was right there behind him) he went out and smushed his toes into the sandy water.
He was having a great time when all of a sudden a little wave came and knocked him onto his behind!
It was so funny to see the shocked look on his face as his behind hit the sand!
It was a great day at the beach, our best ever.
I got a great photo of him playing in the sand. I will see if I can get it online and post it later!

No pics. Lost 10 years of my kids and our vacations, on my cd's. They simply erased themselvs.
Pain unexplainable.

Favorite beach memories.
I used to take my youngest, camping all summer, for years. He loved the water; I called him my Water Baby.
We would go to Lake Superior and Lake Michigan and he would spend all day in that cold water.
He would turn blue lipped and come out on my insistence, only to "pretend" to fall in the sand, and have to run back in the water to clean off.

That little boy is in college now and I miss those days like nothing I can compare with. I ache for those days.
So my photos are gone, but my memories are vivid.

I don't have a picture of it either. But my favorite time was when my daughter was 5 and my oldest son was 10 mths. It was their first time at the beach and they were both so amazed by the ocean. Seeing it through their eyes was wonderful. My son had been walking for about a month and seeing him toddle through the sand was adorable.

too many family members + 1 beach house
written by biochick, August 09, 2010
I don't have any pictures of the hilarity but we had one heck of time! grandma, mom, dad, 2 aunts, 2 uncles, brother, sister, husband, and 3 cousins smushed into a 4 bedroom house in Cape May, NJ. My husband, siblings and 2 cousins went kayaking when the tide would come in. When the tide was out (which seemed like was anytime we were awake) we'd wander the muddy tidal area looking for sink holes and interesting creatures. The sink holes found us constantly and we'd flounder in the mud until someone would pull us out. My sister found a snail which she named Edwin and declared her BiFFLe (best friend for life). My mean old aunt made her throw it away smilies/sad.gif Then one night while wandering the mud after a viscous lightning storm we saw a family of DEER out there! Just wandering around aimlessly in the wet sand. There weren't even any woods nearby that the deer would have wandered out of. My sister and I were convinced that Harry Potter must be somewhere conjuring up his patronus. Why else would there be deer on a beach?

Such fun colors. My parents live in San Diego. Our two favorite things is to visit Ruby's on the pier in Oceanside or Miguel's on Coronado Island. Both allow for some great beach time. Our family favorite, besides playing in the sand involves boogie boarding. We can never get enough! smilies/cheesy.gif
The beauty and serenity of the beach to bring a couple back together
written by Pam Muncy, August 09, 2010
My husband and I share a love of photography and we use that often to reconnect us when we feel things are going astray. Living in California also helps as we both love the peacefulness and beauty the beach brings us, as we used to visit here often when we first got married 23 years ago. I love this photo I took as the sun was setting and a the birds are so graceful and peaceful.

After a wonderful week spent in Duck, NC with my 4 year old and lots of extended family, I ended the week by getting up very early and trekking down to the beach with my coffee and camera in hand to sit, relax and watch the sun rise. BEACHES
written by emma deas, August 09, 2010
The colours in the kit are beautiful and are all reminiscent of the beach. Theres something very magical about the beach, and even adults seem to find themselves transported back to their childhood on each and every visit. Living in england its hard to find a beach with sparkling blue sea and shimmering white sand, but for me its the feeling of the sand between your toes, the smell of the salty seawater and the cries of the seagulls flying overhead that give me that feeling again that we all have as children on the beach. my son who's now twelve loves searching for crabs and we all collect as many shells as we can find! Theres also the lovely story our mums always used to tell us when we were little that if you stand somewhere quiet and hold a large shell to your ear you will always be able to hear the sea deep inside, and sure enough i still think i can hear it whenever i do, so so special. xxxx

Thanks for making such great products, with such a huge selection of colors! I always bought the lightest shade of foundation but still could never find my exact match--it was too pink or too peach, or just too dark for my very fair skin. My daughter had the same problem, although we are different shades of pale! smilies/smiley.gif We both found the perfect color for us with the everyday minerals try me kits, and couldn't be happier! I have told all of my friends and got my sister hooked as well. Your brushes are excellent and such a great value! I also love the eyeshadows and lippies! Keep up the great work, and thank you!

Vacation in Davao, Philippines
written by aneleHGeraldo, August 09, 2010
This was taken during our vacation this past January.

It was really low tide, and we were able to see a lot of small starfishes (the small beige ones in the 1st pic), then all of a sudden we saw the bigger ones by the rocks!! It was fantastic!!! smilies/grin.gif

That was the first time that I saw starfishes that big, outside of the Vancouver Aquarium.
They were so colourful and bigger than my hand and one even had horns!! O_O!!
Taking pictures was enough for my cousins because they were actually afraid of touching the starfishes, but I wanted to hold them, so I carefully lifted them up for a couple of pictures, then I placed them back were we found them. I was of course apprehensive at first when I was handling them, especially the one with the horns, but it was such a rush afterward!! I couldn't stop grinning!! smilies/grin.gif

The people there told us how we can leave them out to dry, so that we can keep them as souvenirs, if we wanted, but I was kinda horrified at the idea of killing them, so I just politely refused. smilies/sad.gif

Other than that, It was one of the best and memorable places we've ever been!!! smilies/grin.gif

Dolphins

When my husband and I saved up enough money, we were able to take a trip to Bermuda. We only could stay there a couple days, but it is somewhere I have always wanted to go. It was such a beautiful place, one I will never forget. Although it was very short, it was amazing. I have only been to the beach a couple times in my life, and this was a very special memory. When we where walking along a sidewalk near the edge of the water, several miniature dolphins swam up near where we were. It was so, so special and unexpected. My favorite animals have always been whales, elephants and dolphins. It is definitely a trip of a life time.

Britannia beach on the Ottawa river, Canada
written by ariix, August 09, 2010
I live about a 10 minute walk from the beach, which is awesome. On really hot days I like to take a walk or jog to the beach and then cool off with a swim. This photo that I took last month shows just how low the water level is this year - I've never seen it like this before! But it's been a hot summer, after a winter with less snow than usual. It's weird to have to walk out so far before reaching the water! And the buoy line is still in its usual place, so the swimming area is a lot smaller than during normal years. But I just swim beyond it, anyway. smilies/wink.gif

I love EVM! Been using it since 2008 when my friend introduced it to me. Actually she didn't. I just asked what she was using cause she looked so picture perfect and glowy all night. Haha.

Recently I went to the beautiful island of Bali for a quick getaway. My boyfriend and I were staying near to the Kuta area where the beach was a tad too overcrowded. So we decided to explore around a little more and we got ourselves to Nusa Dua. It was great!! The skies were clear and the sun was perfect for tanning. The beach was really clean and we felt almost like we had it to ourselves! A nice, warm and lazy day at the beach. Perfect right? So then there i was trying to get some good beach jumpshots. Heh.

A sand castle collection would be a good add to my EVM collection. Its definitely something that one can use everyday!! Thanks for making EVM happen! =)

I can't say I have too many pictures of the beach, which is kind of weird. Having grown up in southern California, I have a lot of memories tied to the beach. I tend to not take pictures of things, preferring to be present in the moment, so perhaps that accounts for why that may be.

I went to school in a landlocked state for three years, and my appreciation for the beach (as well as for Korean food, which I missed intensely out in Ohio) grew a lot during that time. So it became more and more of a tradition for me to try and make it out to the beach at least once each break. Every summer, a friend of mine from school hosted a bonfire at Huntington Beach for alumni, current students, and whomever else was around--bonfires are huge, and I think almost half of my trips to the beach in my adult life were for bonfires.

The first year I was back in California for good, I went to the beach a number of times, but usually it was at night--it's my favorite time. There aren't a lot of people (occasionally that's because I go after the beach officially "closes," muhaha) and the moon is reflecting off the water. I love to take off my shoes (invariably, I'm in flip-flops, because I *am* a Cali girl) and just get my feet wet. I'll stand there and listen to the water, feel it lapping over my toes, and just take some time to think and clear my mind. Also, there are some rocky beaches, and I love going and sitting on the rocks, watching the water, in the winter when--again--there are few people braving the cold to go to the beach. But I suppose four years in the Midwest have made me fearless.

Another favorite memory is from a semester abroad in Austria. I loved the semester, but I missed the ocean--and once in a while I got to see the water, like when I took a trip to Barcelona and got to walk on the pier for a bit. But after the semester was over, I went on a trip to Ireland with some friends, and we went to the Dingle Peninsula. We took a drive along the coast that brought us to Slea Head, where there is this magnificent beach. I didn't realize how much I had missed the water until my feet hit the wet sand--I have a couple of pictures that I took before I gave into my glee at finally being at a beach again, but they don't do justice to the vivid colors that were typical of everything I saw in Ireland. I'm including one of the best ones. (Hopefully it posts!)

Here are some pics from the beach this summer.

My family came to visit this summer for a very short time. In fact, my sister (who lives over 1600 miles away) had to split her time with her in-laws that lived a few hours away from me. She came to stay with me for 2 days and then she had to go since they had planned to go to the beach. Then she suggested we go with. We booked the very last hotel room where she was staying and we were on our way. After sitting in the car for hours through some heavy traffic, we were finally there. The kids went crazy. It was worth the drive and traffic to see those excited faces and hear the delighted squeals come from them. It was their very first time at the beach and seeing the ocean. We had a blast. In the morning, we woke early and searched for shells. My daughter picked up everything she could carry, even broken ones. The kids found a crab and thought it was so cool. We let it be, but after some time when people started coming out, a couple picked it up and started examining it.
Sand Castles with the kids

I don't have any pictures of us at the beach. We have only been to the ocean once as a family and we were too busy playing in the sand and waves to take pictures. The beach the kids enjoyed the most was on the Kentucky River, where my dad used to work. My dad took the kids down to a beach that most people don't used and they collected rocks. The kids had a blast on the beach that day with my dad.

My best beach memory is when i went to ireland and saw their lovely beaches....they were different than anything i had seen on the jersey shore!
I was so used to seeing flat land and lots of sand (it sometimes seemed like you had to walk for miles in sand just to get from boardwalk to water). When i went to ireland it seemed so natural and "real" and not as manufactured. There was barely any sand and lots of cliffs and hills....it was absolutely amazing....and beautiful....and spectacular.....Here is my favorite picture that i took smilies/smiley.gif

Too cute!!

These 3 little girls knew each other from 1989, when they all went to school togheter for the first time.
They instanlty became inseparable friends!
And today, after 20 years, they still are best friends.

Also if our lives took different directions I can say we are today like many year ago we were in this pic: hand in hand.
This pic is so special (is one of the first pics together!), just because it remember how True friendship could last longer: everytime I see it I'm always moved because I start thinking about all we've done in so many years, all the experiences lived togheter, the quarrels, the joyful moments...
And, after all, we're still here one for each other.

I've searched this photo all week long and I finally found it yesterday!
I would like to share this piece of my (beachy) life with you Carina, and all the fan club smilies/smiley.gif

Summer 1990.
From left to right: Lucia (Yep, Me!), Mary and Naike. About 4 years old.
Too cute!!

These 3 little girls knew each other from 1989, when they all went to school togheter for the first time.
They instanlty became inseparable friends!
And today, after 20 years, they are still best friends.

Hand in Hand smilies/smiley.gif

Thanks for this post Carina!
xoxo
