Party
written by organically_, December 20, 2010
I always loved the holiday parties in elementary school. Everyone would bring in their own treats to eat. We could dress how we wanted their was NO homework or in class assignments, there were always things to draw, crosswords, coloring pages and crafts made out of construction paper! It always marked the last day of school before Christmas break and I remember being excited to leave after the party because me my mom and my brother always went out to get personal sized pizzas (as we always did on half days at school)!
Partyyyy!!!

The best holiday party I went to was actually at work! I worked at a grocery store and we had it in the back room. My boss got completely juiced and was offering everyone Christmas kisses! We all danced around the isles of the grocery store until about one in the morning. It was one of my favorite memories. smilies/cheesy.gif
Best Holiday Party

The best holiday party I've ever been to was a Christmas party at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. The evening was surprisingly chilly (sure, it was December, but this is Florida we're talking about, so cool weather isn't a given!), so my best friend and I bundled up in cozy winter sweaters, hats and mittens (a true novelty for a Florida girl, LOL) and headed out to the park. The party was a special event, so all the crowds from during the day had been cleared out. The entire park was decorated for Christmas -- a huge tree on Main Street, wreaths and garlands and bows everywhere, and lights twinkling all over. Carolers sang Christmas songs. Cinderella Castle was frosted with a spectacular display of icicle lights. Isn't it pretty?:

There was a special parade and fireworks, and there were spots throughout the park where they gave away free cocoa and cookies. It even "snowed" on Main Street -- the snow was really tiny bits of frothy soap bubbles, but it certainly looked real enough. The entire evening was filled with holiday magic.

I love doing sparkly makeup for special occasions, and I went with a Christmassy green theme for my eye makeup -- Pressed Olive on my lids, Freckles in the crease, and Little Black Dress as a liner. I added a little Aussie Perk Me Up as a highlighter, and Theme Park as a blush (it just seemed appropriate, LOL). One of my favorite things about EDM is how well it stays put, even when I'm running around a theme park all evening. I was just as shimmery at the end of the night as I was at the beginning, and I looked fabulous in our party photos, if I do say so myself. smilies/wink.gif

Best Holiday Party

The best Holiday Party I ever attended was my boss's Christmas party this year! We played Dirty Santa/Chinese Auction and it was so funny to watch everyone fighting over gifts! One gift that was brought was a bag full of lottery tickets so you can imagine how that went! HAHA! We played Buzz Word and had eating contests. My best friend won at seeing who could put the most peanut butter balls in their mouth.....she got 17!!! LOL
Best New Year's Party!
written by LauraMc, December 21, 2010
New Year's was never really a big celebration time for my family growing up. However, I lived in Mexico when the millenium new year came. My father-in-law paid for hotel rooms and party tickets at a fancy hotel in Monterrey for his children and their spouses. We had an amazing time! I bought a new dress and shoes for the party. I had never been, nor have been since to a party like it.

This kit looks groovy, it has the essentials you need to look beautiful for any party, really like bag design, the eyeshadows look lovely.smilies/smiley.gif

i would keep the outfit simple and play up the eyes, I would wear the gold half of the eyelid, and silver for the othe eyelid, i would blend it so there are no harsh lines, i would wet the gold and put it in the lower lid, i would use black eyeliner in the crease and blend it, and use it for the lower lashes and get sexy smokey eyes. I would use champagne as highlighter, girls day for the cheeks and interpersonal attraction for the lippie.smilies/smiley.gif

ROCK N ROLL SKATING PARTY

We had a abba themed party in a roller skating rink.

A friend who is a huge fan of this group chose this for her party.

The rink was awesome, it had loads of colored lights, we got cool retro rollerskates, i had lots of glitter on them, and colorful laces. The speakers boomed out all the abba classics.

It was so much fun, everyone was joining in the singing, it had a billiant atmosphere.

COSTUMES

For the costume i wore this gorgeous, dancing queen outfit, with the flared arms and legs, it had cool patterns, it was accesorized with a belt.

I had large chunky earrings.smilies/grin.gif

MAKEUP

The thing you noticed about abba makeup was that it was dewy, and fresh that is why edm makeup is what you need, natural lucent all over to achieve the glowing complexion.

I used blue eyeshadow all over eyelid, and also lined the lower lashes, i used highlighter in the inner corner of the eyes, lower lashes, this brightens the eyes. use bubble tea all over lid, use champagne as brow highlighter, use it in the outer corner of eyes and blend out, to achieve wide eye effect. Then apply a darker blue just on the edge of the lashes to enhance the blue eye look, this can been achieved with free wheelin denim eyeshadow.

I would use pucker up buttercup lippie, use wet sand blended with soft touch for dewy cheeks.

it was an awesome party.

An Unexpected Win(dfall)
written by Valentina2011, December 22, 2010
During my tiring internship this summer, where I worked 60+ hours a week, our head manager suddenly decided to have an office party and let everyone take half the day off. We were all incredibly surprised and amusingly wondered what would happen to the market portfolios (due at the day's end) if the entire office took half the day off, since our work depends on how the stock market changes throughout the day. The theme was golf, and mini holes were set up across the entire office: 28 to be exact. The person with the most hole-in-ones would win $500, with second place at $300. As you might guess, I mainly worked with males for golf to be the theme of an office party... I would have made it something more exciting, such as a Midsummers Eve party, where everyone could come in light clothing (rather than our frigid suits) and drink refreshing sodas or eat light finger food. I had no interest in golf and have never played any form of golf in my life. Finally it was my turn. I was last, since I was only an intern. 23/28 was the highest score, with 21/28 being the second highest. At first, I refused, because I knew I wouldn't be able to get anywhere near half of the holes, but to maintain the party spirit, I took up the club and...my first shot went in! And then, 21 more shots went in...

I ended up winning the $300 second place prize smilies/cheesy.gif Granted, everyone was dead tired and I was the only intern in the division who worked less than all the full time employees. But everyone was so happy that day...you can imagine working 60+ hours and suddenly getting half a day off. It really lifted up the spirit of all of my coworkers, and I saw a cheerful, relaxed side to them I had never seen before. It was such a nice atmosphere, and I wanted to preserve that moment, preserve the happiness of my coworkers who always appeared so distressed. While my coworkers were happily chatting about their plans for the weekend, I was doing some online shopping on the company laptop with my $300... smilies/cheesy.gif

Best holiday party I ever attended was the ugly Christmas sweater party. Loved seeing all the crazy sweaters and awesome way to loosen everyone up. Not to mention, Christmas anything means lots of food and alcohol!

Happy holidays everyone! smilies/smiley.gif
New Year's Eve Party in Pompeii
written by LucyInTheSky, December 25, 2010
First of All Merry Christmas to you Carina, to all the EDM Staff, and to all the reders!
Share the Love!

About the task:
My boyfriend is from Pompei, a well-know place because of its Archaeological Areas of Pompeii.
The city of Pompeii is a partially buried Roman town-city; was destroyed and completely buried during a long catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The eruption buried Pompeii under 4 to 6 meters of ash and pumice, and it was lost for over 1,500 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1599!
It's impressive and so fascinating that after so long time Pompeii has been well preserved under 4 to 6 meters of ash and pumice.
There are 2 wonderful theatres and an amphitheatre in the archaeological area, where are organized lots of events especially on summer.

About 2 years ago, for New Year's Eve, there was organized an Exclusive Holiday Party for about 300 persons.
I was so Happy because of the lovely Idea to say "Hello" to the New Year in the wonderful scenary of Pompei ruins.

For the first part of this Party all the Guests were invited in the "Teatro Grande" (The Big Theatre) equipped to show us an original historical representation about Old Pompeian Festivals.
Often in Summer in this Theatre you can also assist to concerts under the starry sky. Simply awsome.

Then we went in the Big Amphitheatre, set for the remaining part of the Night.

The entire "Arena" was stunning:
covered with candles and lanterns everywhere, like fireflies around us; Posters of Pompeian frescos along the perimeters; big round tables were positioned on a side with red tablecloths and silver cutlery, porcelains and decorations with flowers and candelabrums.

There was a Huge Buffet with all sort of finger food and much more; a stand with bread and other similar products (for example bread filled with olives, small pizzas etc); a stand with local Products we use to eat for the New Year's Eve; an Open Bar and lots of Stands where you can eat some food prepared at the moment!

To accompain our Night there was a little band with also piano and violins and a Big Screen where at Midnight we saw the Countdown for the New Year.
We Toasted with Champagne at Midnight, watched amazing fireworks over the amphitheatre and then We danced all Night Long eating "Pandoro".

It could seem not so particular but this Party captured my heart because of the scenary and the atmosphere.
You have to imagine that Pompeii archeological area, is an entire ciry, separated from the places around; (and for example the amphiteatre is also surrounded by a pinewood zone) so 300 persons for that night were the only inhabitants inside a city reborn from its ashes, where time has stopped flowing; around us only anciet ruins of a different culture that isn't dead, because you can really "feel" them around you.
And as it was "By Night", the darkness created an intense atmosphere that’s hard to describe in words, and it definitely made it easy to imagine what this place must have been like about 2,000 years ago.
If you can I suggest to visit Pompeii, is a magic experience.

xoxo and Merry Christmas to all of you!
Best New Years Party
written by jjjjjules, December 25, 2010
My favorite New Years party thus far, was last year. A good friend of mine had a party at his house, and although it was not a flashy New Years by any means, it was amazing. Nothing is better than ringing in a new year, and in this case, new decade, with your best friends. Singing auld lang sye with my friends, watching the ball drop, and popping open bottles of bubbly is not exceptional, but it didnt need to be because it was perfect as is.
This year, is going to be the last new years where my friends and I are still altogether. We are all about to graduate college and many of us are leaving for jobs and graduate school. I hope that this New Years is just as good as the last, so I can have another great memory from my senior year.
2000 new year's eve
written by alafair, December 26, 2010
The most memorable holiday party was the 2000 new year's eve. I went to Florence with few friends (my 3 best friends). The town was full of exhibitions, concerts, markets, dancings, lights and people. Fun and joy were in the air. At midnight we celebrated the new year in the streets admiring the fireworks, drinking all together and dancing.

The fireworks at the Ponte Vecchio (old bridge):

And at the cathedral dome:

Actually, the night didn’t end very well. At about 3 a.m., exhausted, we went to the train station to take a train back to home, but the first train, starting at 6 a.m., was full of people and it was impossible to take a place, even standing up or sitting on the floor!! Several trains were cancelled due to the risk of the millennium bug (Italian organization…….no comment....). We could find a place in another train starting at 11 a.m.. At 7 a.m., when it was incredibly full of people and after the police action (People tried to get into the train passing through the windows!! ), the train started and, after a 2 hours travel (normally, it takes 1 hour) and stops in every single small station, we could reach our town. But this was not the end. The day after we all had the flu!!! Probably, we took it in the train overflowing of people.
Anyway we had great time and fun and I remember that night as a great one. ;-)

So I've thought about holiday parties I've been to recently and none stood out to be too fun and memorable. So I had to think back about a decade when I was a single girl. I went to a holiday party with a friend. It was pretty laid back and fun for a work holiday party. There was good music, fun people, and fun games. "They even had played limbo. I was so close to winning. I don't think I could play that again without seriously hurting myself, but back then it was fun and different.
