What little kid didn't want to live in a treehouse?
The amazing treehouse above is nestled in a redwood forest in New Zealand - it's actually a restaurant called the Yellow Treehouse. Can you believe this??
Today I thought I'd track down some of the coolest and most unbelievable treehouses all over the world to share with you.
I love the aspect that you're living in nature!
My favorite of all of the ridiculously cool treehouses that I discovered is the 4TreeHouse in Lake Muskoka, Ontario.

Can you believe this is real?
Envisioned as a "Japanese lantern on stilts" by designer Lukasz Kos, this marvel of architectural design was modeled around the nature.
Just the way I think all things should be... taking natural conditions into consideration first and foremost :)
With wooden slats and three-story design, I love that the house illuminates light in such a fanciful way when the sun goes down. Soo cool!
O2 Sustainability is a company that created the O2 Sustainability Tree.

According to founder Dustin Feider, O2 Sustainability has set out to "revolutionize not merely tree houses but the entire concept of habitat. This will be good for the tree, the environment and the deep human need to reconnect with nature and our primordial roots."
Love this!
The treehouse is made of recycled materials, and the size can be custom tailored to fit the customer's needs. Can you imagine having this fantastic retreat in your own backyard?
I could spend all weekend here just enjoying my natural surroundings and reading a few great books :)
While the next treehouse is entirely man-made, I had to highlight it - it's just so out there!

The Naha Harbor Diner in Okinawa, Japan is a gigantic recreation of a banyan tree, and the restaurant is cradled in the branches of the "tree."
I'd love to try this diner out when paying a visit to Japan (LOVE Japan!) - especially when I heard that the restaurant uses locally grown and organic harvested farm fresh ingredients in their healthy cuisine.
Yum!
From the chic, sleek and modern treehouse designs to the overwhelmingly wacky, up next we have this seemingly rustic treehouse in Tokyo.

Takashi Kobayashi is one of Japan's leading treehouse designers - can we talk for a second about how cool it is that Japan has "leading treehouse designers"? - and designed this oval bird's nest treehouse in a field of a town named Kamishihoro.
When all was said and done, this creation cost around $38,000 to build. Eep!
The house was designed for a Nescafé commercial that ran in Japan, and after filming was complete, the house was there to stay!
These Free Spirit Spheres are just so sci-fi.

Designed by Tom Chudleigh, the Free Spirit Spheres are eco-friendly living spaces where man can co-exist with nature in a green and peaceful way. Love this!!
These wooden spheres are totally durable and are even mobile! They were designed so that four anchor points of a tree can completely support each sphere.
Can I have one? :)
Now that I've been dishing on all of these treehouses, I want my very own! However, if you don't want to go through the hassle of having one built, you can always check into the Hidden Canopy B&B Treehouses Hotel in Costa Rica!

Located at 300 m Este del cruce, Camino Sky Trek, Monteverde, Costa Rica - wow! - the hotel is a lush destination that's ideal for a serene escape.
Nestled in 13 miles of protected land, the hotel has six luxurious rooms that look out over the forest.

Elegant yet rustic, can you imagine how amazing it would be to visit here?

Relax and enjoy the scenery, or go for a canopy zip-line tour!

Imagine you're Bella riding on Edward's back in "Twilight" - sorry, I had to ;)
Can't get enough of these treehouses!
FUN TASK:
Looking at all of these super diverse treehouse designs, if you could build your own custom treehouse - would you make it sleek and modern (a la the 4TreeHouse) or more rustic and organic? Paint me a picture of your dream nature home!
I'll give a few of my favorites a TreePeople Sponsor Membership, which include:
- Seedling News, TreePeople's quarterly newsletter
- Free workshops on tree planting, tree care and pest management
- Free full moon hikes
- Volunteer opportunities for mountain and urban tree plantings
- A free tree from our nursery
- Member discounts at selected retailers

I would love to live in tree house. It would be so much fun to be part of nature and to get to look out at nature around you. I love going camping so it would for sure be the biggest and best camping experience ever
I really love that these homes are also more green than the average home which is great with all of the problems from global warming. I could do my part to help stop it.

I really love tree houses. They are so much fun! My tree house would have to be large enough fot two bedrooms, an office, a living room/dining room and a small kitchen. Lol, I think it shounds more like a home home lol. Just some things that I can't live without haha. I want my tree hosue to be mostly glass with pull down shades for privacy if I would like it. The rooms dont have to be be very large, just big enough for the basics.
Oh my goodness I almost forgot a bathroom lol!!!

I lived in the mountains for a short time and many of the houses were very nearly tree houses. I just adored living there. So quiet and tranquil, and always amidst nature. I love the look of rustic tree houses, organic and beautifully natural.

I think a fantasy storybook treehouse would be delightful!
Just to think you are right in the middle of nature is almost a fairy tale, and I would love if my treehouse had a fatasy storybook spin to it.
Look at the cute storybook treehouse I found.
Something like that would be ideal

I know that this sounds completely insane but my tree house has to be somewhere extreme. I want it to be on the edge of a cliff or above a waterfall. I prefer the second one over the first
My treehouse would be solar powdered and very minimal in design!

Now and Then

I love that movie "Now and Then" ... I always wanted their tree house even though it is not in a tree but it would be so cool to own. On the other hand I too would love a naturally created and shaped home in the sky... in particular I think I would love an oak tree or maybe even a maple depending on where I choose to settle down. I would definitely make use of rainwater and find a way to capture the sun above the trees or convert the wind for power... If space around the tree was not a problem I would grow my own garden either at the base of the tree or in pots if sunlight is available

i have the a wonderful idea for my treehouse.
i would like the design of a castle externally, i always wanted to be the lady of the castle.
there would even be a drawbridge design to it.
the internal would be a complete contrast to the the exterior, because i want the internal design to have modern comforts.
i would like a small book area, another section for makeup and clothes, and i would like a section to relax.
i would locate my treehouse in the countryside, so that i would have a awesome view.

TREEHOUSE!

I think treehouses are so fun!
They bring me back to memories of childhood and no-boys-allowed clubs sharing books and burying our most treasured possessions in the backyard so we could dig them up later in our pseudo time capsule.
My treehouse would be a recreation of the one I had as a child but on a larger scale. My dad had painted the outside yellow and the window frames white and my mom gave me her old kitchen curtains for the windows. it looked like the perfect little cottage in the trees!
I spent many an hour in that treehouse, it would be fun to have an adult version as a 2nd home getaway for vacations
