As you know, I love having my nearest and dearest over for dinner parties, especially when I can make the night a little fancy. Basically, it’s an excuse for me to bring out my good china!
Today, I thought I’d post a few pretty place settings that may inspire your next dinnertime soiree.
I love having fun with silverware, china and napkins - so cute!
How gorgeous are these place settings I found online? I am definitely going to try and recreate a few of these :)

By adding some colorful fresh flowers and a pretty table cloth, you can transform your gathering into a fanciful feast. It may be a little girlie and over the top, but what’s the harm in that? :)
These pretty place settings remind me of delightful tea parties or elegant days gone by.
The most important element of a pretty place setting is having a china set that you love. Remember, there are some gorgeous china patterns that aren’t your grandma’s china!
The pattern above is so shabby-chic, but then again you can’t go wrong with classic white.
How cool is this pattern that I found online?
It’s called the “Wedgewood Cuckatoo” pattern, and it’s part Asian, part antique and totally beautiful. Think about how pretty it would be to find a bouquet of fresh flowers at the farmer’s market that matched the hues of the flowers on the plate?
RealSimple.com (one of my favorite sites, FYI) has a piece called “27 Pretty China Patterns” that is so fun to explore. Here are three of my favorites from their picks!
Filet A Papillons by Alberto Pinto caught my eye due to the dainty and delightful butterflies!
Chinoiserie White by Jasper Conran for Wedgwood is adorned with pretty birds and lush florals - and reminds me of the beauty of China.
Finally, Floral Leaf by Vera Wang for Wedgwood has that earthy, organic feel that you know I love :)
If you’re in the mood for a DIY way to make your dinnerware, you can always stop by a local Color Me Mine location to paint your own dishes :)
My love for pretty china was what inspired me to create my Good China eye shadow!
It’s a pearlescent light beige with pink undertones.
Love it!!
FUN TASK:
If you could invite five women, dead or alive, to your dream dinner party, who would you invite and what one question would you ask each of them?
I am going to send a bunch of Good China and Queen Anne’s Lace (a light pearl champagne beige shade that reminds me of a pretty lace table cloth) eye shadows to all of my favorites!

xoxoxo,
Carina
My favorites are...
Rita
Rachel Morrison

I would love to hear such stories from my grandmother so I would invite my grandmother and grandaunts to my dinner party. I would like to find out how was their life and how they managed to survive the hardships. What happened when they traveled from another country to start life here. What they were most proud of in their life and any other stories that they will share with me.

1)Virgin Mary;
2) Joan of Arc;
3) Indira Gandhi;
4)Mother Teresa
5) My Granny - she did a lot to me, she brought me up, substituted me my mother, but unfortunately before her death I did not have a chance to say good-buy.
These women are legend to me, that is why I would ask them one question: " What was the source of their strength to fight for their dream and close people despite everything, to go on and on until the very end".

I would love to meet Jane Goodall (the woman who redefined man) and ask her " you have shown what it means to be an animal, and what it means to be a human, how can I help people to realize that we are more alike than different?"
My second choice would have to be my 5th great grandmother Mary Campbell. At the age of 12 years old, she was captured by indians and kept was the chiefs daughter until the age of 18. I would ask her how she found the strength to live through it, and continue to have a long life with as a loving mother and wife. She must have been an amazing women.
A third women I would like to meet and ask a question of is Simone de Beauvoir. She was a philosopher and a writer. Because she was one of the pioneers of the feminist movement, I would like to know what or who inspired her to be outspoken and strong in her beliefs at a time when it was not allowed to do so as women.
I would like to meet Alicia Silverstone because of her devotion to being a Vegan. She has written a wonderful book called The Kind Diet and is very motivating and inspiring when it comes to eating healthy. I would like to tell her I have been a vegetarian for three years and ask her what is the most important step for me to make to move to a Vegan lifestyle and a kind life.
Lastly I would like to meet Lisa Ling. She does so many incredible things and has witnessed tragedies as well as awe-inspiring moments. I would like to know the what she feels is the most important story she wants people to know about, she has covered and investigated with National Geographic.
Women should be celebrated and I think this is a perfect way to do so.

The first woman, Eve:
If you had it to do all over again, would you still choose to eat from the forbidden tree? Elaborate.
Mary, the mother of Jesus:
How do you personally feel about sometimes being given reverential worship instead of God?
Émilie du Châtelet:
Given the brilliant work you accomplished in the fields of mathematics and science nearly 300 years ago, how far do you think women have advanced in those fields since that time, and what would you do today to help further the education and influence of women in those fields?
Oprah Winfrey:
What do you believe is the greatest, most beneficial cause for which you can use your influence and how would you accomplish it?
My Mother:
What do you hope will be your legacy and what do you impart to your family to that end?

person and those I've read about! I'll probably have changed my mind in the next hour,
but for now I'm choosing...
Marilyn Monroe
So much mystery and so much we don't know behind that smile and wink. What REALLY
happened in those few months at the end of your life, and was it worth it?
Queen Hatshepsut of Egypt
Such an inspiration - The Queen Who Would Be King. You refused to bow to gender or the
low expectations of others around you. Was it ambition or altruism that drove you to
rule as a woman in a man's land?
Emily Pankhurst
Thank you, THANK YOU for all you and your sisters in protest did for women's rights to
vote. You defied tradition and fought injustice, risking your reputation and life for
the things you knew were right. How did it feel the first time you stood against the
establishment - were you scared, or just exhilarated with the sense of righteousness you
deserved?
My Great-Great Grandmother
Born into a travelling group, you were an outcast from your family for choosing love over
tradition. You refused to leave the man who'd become my great-great grandfather, and
without that real-life Romeo and Juliet story, I wouldn't be here. Your determination to
follow your heart is an inspiration to me, generations later. How did it feel to leave
everything you'd known for the man you loved? Were you scared, or did you just trust it
would all turn out well?
Ina Mae Gaskin
Such an inspiration to so many women, you've spent your adult life promoting safe childbirth, helping women to trust their bodies, and revolutionising midwifery. Your work has helped countless women and babies to experience more peaceful, natural, fulfilling births. What inspired you, though? What led you to be the passionate, stubborn, wonderful, powerful voice that you've become?
Now wouldn't THAT be a wonderful dinner party??

I Love your Fan Tasks Carina because you always make me think.
And This question is really interesting, I've thought about it for many days.
I've considered many women I would like to met and it's difficault choose only 5 of them.
So I finally decided for this combination.
Queen Rania of Jordan
I found she's the perfect Modern Queen in a country with a difficult historical scenery (also for the consideration of the woman) and in a dangerous territory.
But Queen Rania is not only one of the most fascinating women of the world, She's in the first line to help her country to grow and to help lots of human organizations like Arab Women's Summit, Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences (AABFS), Jordan Cancer Society, National Team for Family Safety, National Team for Early Development, Child Safety Program and more.
She's the Kind of Woman I think a Queen have to be in the 21th century.and her Twitter Page is a way to be near to all the people in the world and communicate her projects and her prospective of life.
Aung San Suu Kyi
She's a Burmese Politician,an activist of Human Rights. A Great Woman in a Little body.
She's is the leader of the non-violence Movement that is against the oppression of the military dictature of her country.
She has been placed under house arrest on numerous occasions since she began her political career, totaling 14 of the past 20 years, and in this period her health conditions were often critical.
Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991.
" for her non-violent struggle for democracy and human rights (..) one of the most extraordinary examples of civil courage in Asia in recent decades. She has become an important symbol in the struggle against oppression....In awarding the Nobel Peace Prize for 1991 to Aung San Suu Kyi, the Norwegian Nobel Committee wishes to honour this woman for her unflagging efforts and to show its support for the many people throughout the world who are striving to attain democracy, human rights and ethnic conciliation by peaceful means."
Cleopatra VII Thea Philopatore
She was the last Queen of Egypt – after her death Egypt became a Roman province.
Cleopatra was regarded as a great beauty, even in the ancient world. But I think she wasn't only a true beauty or a seducer (as many artist said in their works) but she was also a true intelligent woman who reigned in a land full of prosperity. She knew lots of different languages and was able in art and science.
Cassius Dio also spoke of Cleopatra's allure: "For she was a woman of surpassing beauty, and at that time, when she was in the prime of her youth, she was most striking; she also possessed a most charming voice and knowledge of how to make herself agreeable to every one."
Oprah Winfrey
Who doesn't know her? Also here in Italy her figure is often imitate (with awful results) and is an example.
Wikipedia says: Oprah Gail Winfrey, is an American television host, actress, producer, and philanthropist, best known for her self-titled, multi-award winning talk show, which has become the highest-rated program of its kind in history. She has been ranked the richest African American of the 20th century and beyond, the greatest black philanthropist in American history.
She's an "opinion maker", her career and early life are an excalation of success. She's a "Self Mae Woman" with a strong personality that I admire so much.
Gabrielle "Coco" Bonheur Chanel
She's a famous french stylist.that with her work revolutionized the concept of "femininity" between a modernist philosophy, menswear-inspired fashions, and pursuit of expensive simplicity.
Gabrielle re-invented the concept of woman with an image of a free and indipendent woman, modern and vanguard.
She gave voice to the women of her epoque: Women that started working while husband were at war, and started also do some sport and wanted some functional way to dress without abandon the elegance.
Comfort, Masculinity mixed with femininit, elegancee. She was one of the first women who wore trousers.

Here you are the women I choosed.
I don't know what exactly I would ask to them because I would like to have an entire conversation, like a circle time.
I would like to say to them: May you teach me?
You'll say "Teach, what?" Well, your Secret.
I think that Coco Chanel, Oprah, Cleopatra, Queen Rania and San Suu Kyi have (or had) the most beautiful personality a woman could have.
They're strong, with ideals of life, with culture.
From Queen Rania I would like to know, how can you obtain the respect from a Man and a whole Nation.
From San Suu Kyi I would like to know how can you have the strenght of change the system with your ideals.
From Cleopatra I would like to know how can you seduce a Man with charme and intellect, not only with appearence (and also some make up and beauty secrets,
why not
she was famous also for that.) From Oprah I would like to know how you act when you have some choices to do, how you can choose the better one. Is only fate? Or not?
From Coco I would Know what she thinks about woman figure today, what she thinks of the star system and the style system also.
I've choosed these 5 women because I think it would be a nice conversation together with all of them, I think their characters would mix so well, and they would be
all satisfied of the "circle table" and of the topics.
What I can say more:
"It's ladies night And the feeling's right"

Jane Austin= Confess, You were quite the scandalous flirt in your day, weren't you?
My mom= I never asked you when you lived, What were your dreams?
Martha Washington= Tell me about your life as the First Lady of America? What was your role in being the woman behind the man?
Any mother of any soldier= Where do you find the absolute strength to let your precious child go? And thank you.

So the question:
1. Anne Boleyn. I have a fascination with her, she was amazing. I’d ask her was it all worth it? because she wasn’t a very happy woman I think.
2. Coco Chanel. I would probably ask her about he inspiration, things she does to relax because she worked a lot.
3.Queen Victoria. She’s my idol, she had to grow up very fast and she took on a very hard job at very young age. I‘d ask her how she dealed with stress and fear.
4. Empress Dowager CiXi
She was girl from a poor family who became an empress at age of 17. People tried to kill her to get to the throne. I’d ask her how she remained true to herself and never gave up.
5.My grandmother
My grandmother died when I was 7 years old, so I didn’t spend a lot of time with her, but she introduced me to something that I still enjoy: sewing. For 5 years I have been designing and sewing clothes myself, and I thank her for that.
