Hi Everyone, and welcome to my love letter to you from Los Angeles!
It's so excited to be joining Carina and Everyday Minerals!
So let me start by introducing myself – I'm Taylor Jacobson, and some of you may know me from Bravo's "The Rachel Zoe Project."
Since Se ason two aired, I've d ecided to pursue my fashion styling career independently, and could not be more excited about starting 2010 on my own two feet.
I'm following my passion and, with equal parts inspiration, confidence, and enthusiasm, I'm beginning a new chapter in my life.
My "Love, Taylor" blog is a way for you to come along on this journey with me every step of the way, a place where each week I can share with you my current obsessions and predictions for what's to come in the fashion industry.
I love having fun with fashion, and find that self-expression through personal style is a very liberating part of life. From my latest inspirations to songs that I can't get out of my head and my classic picks for personal style, food, and the home, this blog is a place where you can get to know the real me.
For my first blog, I wanted to give you an inside peek at my "essentials" – what I can't live without, will never take off, and what makes me, well, me.
I hope that while learning about my everyday essentials and favorite picks, you can in turn think about the essentials that you love in your own life, as well as discuss with your friends about theirs.
Who knows - maybe in the process you'll find a new favorite, or rediscover something that you loved long ago!
If you were a fan of the show, you know that I won't leave the house without my black Ray-Ban Wayfarers.
A classic silhouette that I've found fits my face to perfection, I'd wear these shades to bed if I could. They go with every and any outfit, from cutoff jeans and a vintage t-shirt to a cocktail dress with a biker jacket. For me, life just seems better through a Wayfarer tint.
WHERE TO BUY:
Another one of my signature pieces that a lot of people often ask me about is my sideways cross necklace. Here's a snap that my friend shot.
I picked this up from one of my favorite jewelry boutiques in LA, Roseark. I love this piece because of its delicate simplicity, and the way that it adds just a touch of sparkle to every outfit. On a sixteen inch chain, the necklace comes in plain or diamond and your choice of rose gold, white gold, or yellow gold.
WHERE TO BUY:
My signature perfume is one that many people haven't heard of, allowing me to believe that this gem of a fragrance is my little secret.
However, it's just too delicious for me not to share with you – Miss Marisa is like a breath of fresh air. With hints of plum blossoms and cassis mixed with notes of fresh mint and waterlily, this clean, romantic scent lasts all day and is never overbearing. Plus, it comes in the cutest bottles!
WHERE TO BUY:
My next essential is one that I've been wearing for the past four years – yes you read that right! When it comes to nail polish, I have remained faithful to OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark. A shade that almost appears black yet has a hint of a deep burgundy, this is a color I wear year-round and have really fallen head over heels for. I've never been a pink nail polish kind of girl.

One of my most noticeable traits is my platinum tresses, and I have to give a shout out to my colorist Johny at the Chris McMillan salon in Beverly Hills – he has a special touch with blondes and gets it right every time!

One of my favorite ways to keep my color refreshed and styled is – believe it or not – baby powder. The same way that dry shampoo keeps hair oil-free and manageable, Johnson's Baby Powder is the best kept secret that helps me achieve that matte, piecey look that I just love. I apply as much as possible - it keeps my locks super-platinum and gives each strand amazing texture.
What I love most about Everyday Minerals is how light and natural it feels on my skin. It barely even feels like I'm wearing makeup!
A few of my favorites are the Soft Touch Blush and the Sweet Woodruff Eye Liner Powder, and I am obsessed with wearing the Champagne Lucent Powder for a night out.
I'm also a huge fan of the Natural Lip Balm, which condition my lips and offer a unique selection of delicious scents – love the Rose, Cardamom, and Orange in particular.
Finally, my right wrist won't be caught dead without an ample selection of my favorite gold bracelets that I never, ever take off.
I think that each piece is just that much more special when it stays on you day after day, month after month. Just make sure it's something that your heart truly loves, and you'll be set.
From my Roseark cuff to my C Greene ball bracelet, I'd have to say that my favorite is my gold Cartier love bracelet. I've worn it forever, as it represents my love and close friendship with my boyfriend.

Actually, this deep berry hue is my favorite color in OPI's new line of Axxium Gel Lacquers - They are a UV-cured nail polish that lasts about two weeks on my hands and I am no shrinking violet...This color matches nicely with EDM's Wallaby Shadow and Come What May Blush (which I also use to highlight my brow bone)...I would finish off this look with some Smokey Liner and Going to Market Lip Balm - beautifull!

Sapphire In The Snow- I love deep navy shades, it's got some of the edge of black but with a pop of blues. My favorite paired with a pair of distressed jeans and the Shady Stroll Pallet

I thought about it for about 1 sec before typing this. CHA CHING CHERRY is my favorite by far. I've actually used up a whole bottle of it and had to buy another - that's how much I like it.
I would pair it with Smokey eyeliner and Pink Lemonade lip gloss.

I loved reading all about you and what items you love! I can agree about the baby powder! My Mom used to put it in my hair when I was little to make it look fresh and bouncy! I’m blonde too, so sometimes product can make my hair look greasy, even though I just washed it. Baby powder is awesome for that! I love the two new colors! I love the names you picked too. I hope we will be able to purchase them!
So what a bummer that my favorite OPI doesn’t really have a perfect Everyday Minerals match…hmmm maybe Carina will have to put this into her idea box for later…??? Hehe I don’t know that anyone would want to wear this bright of a color though…who knows! Carina always makes colors that I think will look ridiculous on me, but they end up looking perfectly natural. She has a gift, you know?

Hi Taylor! I just cannot believe you're the new face of EDM! I've been a huge fan of Rachel Zoe and you and I'm just so excited and sort of shocked to see how far EDM has moved up the celeb train! Soon all the women in Hollywood will be using Everyday Minerals. Of course LA is full of luxurious people and things to buy but what are your tips for the more budget-conscious consumers? Do you believe that we can still look good without having to spend thousands on those designer items?

After EDM, of course, nail polish is my biggest obsession. In fact, I was just painting my nails before I decided to come check the fan club post for today! I used my favorite OPI nail polish, Dating a Royal. I have to admit, I really only bought this one for the name, because I know, deep down, that Prince William and I are meant to be together. LOL. However, I quickly fell in love with this royal blue shade. I love it because it does not appear black like a lot of darker blue shades do. If I were to pair a it with an eye look, it would be simple, since this color is a little bold. Hot Chocolate all over, with Boardwalk to line.

Omg, this is so exciting! I’ve been a fan of you ever since the Rachel Zoe Project. I love your style. I also love the two colors Carina made for you. I’m obsessed with anything that has shimmer. Wish You Were Here looks like the most amazing eye shadow color! My favorite OPI nail polish is Flashbulb Fuchsia. I think the eye shadow Rock Anthem from the New Wave Collection would be a perfect match. Both colors are vibrant, eye catching, and happen to be fuchsia. I absolutely adore pink but fuchsia is the grown up version of pink. It allows you to keep your feminine side but with a sense of sophistication. If you are wearing an all black outfit, accents of fuchsia would make the outfit pop even if it’s just the fuchsia in the nail polish or eye shadow. Regardless of what one is wearing, fuchsia is a happy color. It puts a smile on my face and puts me in a good mood. OPI’s Flashbulb Fuchsia would also be a perfect pair with Wish You Were Here!

I love these new eyeshadows and I love OPI!! My picks would be OPI's Strawberry Margarita and EM's....(cant' pick just one lol)....Late Checkout, Angel's Trumpet, Floating Feathers and Black Eyeliner. I'd also throw in Pink Ribbon Blush and Soccer Practice Lippie. AND.....did you know you can have Strawberry Margarita as the color of your Dell laptop!!?? My computer matches my nails!! Cool huh??

well i love the Lincoln park color as well but unlike you i like lighter pink colors especially for the summer C:
so my fav OPI color is of course Cajun shrimp mixed with pompellei (ignore my stubby fingers)
and the Summer Stroll is the best i feel its not to dark not to light just perfect esepcailly for nice Southern California days, (besides today).

This thing of having a blog is really exciting and I hope you have fun with it so you keep us updated! And yeees I am from España and I'm a big fan of your style since RZ project, which I had to watch on the net – so this is why it's great that you have a blog now so I can catch up on your work easier

I am obsessed with OPI's Dark Room. It's a perfect very dark green that almost looks black. Since the nails are pretty dramatic, I would stick to the Soft Touch blush to complete the look.

Oh yikes! I obviously misunderstood the project... haha... seeing as how I (sadly) do not currently own Absolutely Alice nail polish - my real tried and true favorite is Yoga-ta Get This Blue! Okay, okay... half of the reason is also because I love Yoga so much - but the dark blue is fun because it is hardcore like black but a bit softer...
I think this would pair nicely with a nice neutral face... complete with the new Sea Horse eyeshadow!

My favourite OPI nail polish is Romeo & Juliet which is "a deep romantic shade of garnet". It looks great on my toes. I would pair this with First Love eyeshadow and Come What May blush which were shades inspired by Moulin Rouge. Not only do the colours look together, there is a running theme of names being inspired by star-crossed lovers.

After Lincoln Park After Dark, which is my all-time favorite - for fingernails, I also love Barefoot in Barcelona - for my toenails! I'm almost 5'4, so I always choose a neutral shade for my feet - I don't need anything cutting off my leg line more than my height already does. I'd love to sport the shades with your new Little Black dress; just line my polish's mix of rocker-demure, the sparkles in the eyeshadow sweeten up the black a bit.

My favorite OPI nail polish is a gorgeous red, shimmery polish called "I'm Not Really a Waitress." It's part of their classic collection, because in my opinion, everyone needs the perfect classic red polish in their collection.
I would pair it with EDM's Cliche (offwhite with a sheen) & Weeping Willow (deep midnight blue). I like to wear Cliche all over the lid with a thick wetline of Weeping Willow on the top. It's a very simple, pin-up sort of look. I'd pair it with a nice red lipstick to match my nails.

For an everyday, simple look I like to keep my nails simple since no matter what I do the polish always chips. I would pick Moon over Mumbai, which is a nice pearly color with a hint of gray. I would pair that with White lilies and first love shadow, with smokey eyeliner. Then I would add a bit of Best Friends blush, and sprinkler slide lippie.
For a dramatic look, I love the Lincoln park after dark shade. I would pair that with room addition, twilight kiss and a smudge of maples and mums. A little black liner, a touch of natural blush and pink lemonade for lips and you are set to go.

However, I must say that OPI's Spring 2010 Hong Kong Collection is to-die-for! I would have to pick Meet Me on the Starry Ferry from the new Hong Kong Collection. It's a sparkly brown/plum shade that is soooooo beautiful.
I would have to agree with you about Lincoln Park After Dark. It's one of my favorites too, along with Lincoln Park After Midnight--which is a sparkly version of LPAD.
To answer your question regarding which EM would go with it, I would have to say the new shadows from the spring collection would go well with Meet Me on the Starry Ferry. The new EM shades would merry perfectly with the polish!

I would have to say my favorite OPI polish is Absolutely Alice. I was never allowed to wear makeup, when I was younger. My only form of rebellion was to use bright nail polish and this color is fabulous!
I think this would be awsome paired with Free Wheelin’ Denim eye shadow and Best Friends blush. Add some Rose. Cardamom. Orange. Lip Balm and my look would be complete.

I am SO EXCITED that Taylor is joining the Everyday Minerals crew! I loved how she could go from tough chick chic to leopard Dior dresses and still look like herself, not fading into the clothes but really integrating them into an extension of her personality. Her sense of style is just so strong and inspiring. Sorry to sound so stalkery but I loved the show so much! I know Taylor will have an amazing and successful career and the new shadows are as fabulous as she is!
Okay so anyway, my favorite OPI color is Royal Rajah Ruby. It is a deep burgundy mahogany color from the India collection. It's a very dark color until the light hits it, then you can really see the rich red shimmer. I think I'd pair it with neutral eyelids with a pop of 12:01AM gold shimmery eyeshadow lining the bottom lashline, a subtle blush, and a nice dark red lip stain. It would be a good combination of the dark with the light sparkle effect that I love about Royal Rajah Ruby!

My favorite used to be Sonora Sunset. It is a beautiful dark pink which has gold shimmers in it. It takes on the color of whatever you are wearing so it went with anything from red, to coral, to pinks. But it is a retired color. It would look beautiful with Sprung blush. Lately I've been into a French manicure, or as it's originator, Max Factor, called it- Society White. That goes with anything, too!

I love "Up Front & Personal" OPI nail color because I don't like very flashy colors on my fingernails. Of course, toenails are another story. I also like that you can get a matching Dell laptop computer. I think "Juniper" would be the perfect matching eye shadow. It's a gorgeous neutral shade. My favorite kind!

Funny thing is that there is a zoo at Lincoln park in Chicago. But this would be such a glamorous look with smokey eyes.
I love Opi as well, I recently discovered ZOYA nail polish which is free of toluene, formaldehyde, and DBP. You guys should check it out, I'm absolutely in love with it.

I would team it up with Parasail eyeshadow (light pink) for those days when you want a casual look and still look and feel wonderful. A mixture of innocence and naughtyness a nice combination.

I think it's the perfect look for meshing day and night. The beautiful jewel tone of Twilight Kiss is softened by the earthtones of Barefoot in Barcelona. I love fashioning these two shades with my thrifted black blazer, my dark Joe's denim leggings, and my Christmas gift from my mom: Frye "Deborah Boots." FAAAAAAAAAAVORITE.

Welcome to the EDM family, Taylor! I don't have the patient to keep my finger nails pained, but when I do I like to wear french nails or a soft light color. However, I do love to have my toe nails painted and keep them painted throughout the summer (have to give them a rest in the winter except for special occasions). I love to bright colors on my toes, especially red colors. My favorite OPI color is French Bordeaux.
I would pair it with EDM's New Mom blush
and a complimentary green eyeshadow such as EDM's Cypress.

I love Holiday Glow from the Holiday Wishes collection! Definitely a one-of-a-kind dark brown with gold, copper and burgundy sparkle.
It would look awesome paired with EM's Comfy!

I love this gorgeous OPI nail colour called Feelin' Hot-Hot-Hot it goes perfectly with the Everyday Minerals eyeshadow Hipster Hippo. The lovely soft pink colour adds a bit of summer to your nails, while the earthy tones in the Hipster Hippo create a bit of fun and glamour. I love to use this shade of the Everyday Minerals eyeshadow to create a smokey-eye effect. It looks beautiful when paired with the Rock Anthem shade.

my opi color is it's all greek to me (it's what i get when i get my toes done) and i love to match this to funnel cake eye. just go really neutral on the eyes (and lips/cheeks) and make the nails stand out.

I received my prizes yesterday and they are my top two favorite EM eyeshadows! Black eyeshadow is a staple for me and nothing is better than a black eyeshadow with shimmer.
