SPRING PREVIEW

SP_Taylor

Now that the snow is beginning to melt and the flowers are starting to blossom, I am really excited that the warm months of spring are just around the corner.

It's time to bring out the bright patterns, the flirty florals, and the sweet accessories.

Today, I thought I'd take you through a few of my faves for spring, so you can get a sense of what I'll be wearing and possibly get some ideas to inspire your own stylistic choices.

The Spring 2010 RTW collections of Isabel Marant, Etro, and Moschino were three of my favorites.

ISABEL MARANT

SP_ISABELMARANT

From the boho vibe to the rolled shorts paired with feminine blouses, I loved the muted color palette and the great jackets.

ETRO

SP_ETRO

Love love love the mixing and matching of patterns, from florals to plaids to dots to watercolor, and shades of nude and beige is so on point for spring.

MOSCHINO

SP_MOSCHINO

If you are aiming for a bold, vibrant look for spring, definitely keep Moschino on your radar. From ruby red cherry prints to oversized flowers and bright, acid colors.. these bold sheaths make an impact.

As much as I admire the big design houses, I love when new up-and-coming designers give their fresh spin on things. I am really crushing on Kimberly Ovitz, ALICE by Temperley, and Trussardi 1911 at the moment.

KIMBERLY OVITZ

SP_1

I am smitten with her clean and classic design aesthetic with an edgy twist.

ALICE by Temperley

SP_ATemperley_V_27Jan09_PR

Alice Temperley recently said "I just like making nice clothes" - it is her sweet demeanor and savvy design eye that makes her one of my faves. Love the biker embellishments.

TRUSSARDI 1911

SP_trussardi1

Their spring collection is full of edgy patterns and structural silhouettes - soo good.

When it comes to accessory trends, I am really getting into clogs. I know this is love it or hate it, but I am totally team clogs. Karl the genius started an instant fashion frenzy when he sent clogs down the runway of the Spring 2010 Chanel collection.

SP_chanel-embelished-clogs

Teen Vogue recently named their Must-Have Clogs for Spring, and I scanned a spread in the new Nylon that's crazy for clogs.

SP_clogs

Wear them with rolled shorts or a cute mini dress..so into it.

I love Alkemie Jewlery - wear one piece or fifty.

SP_alkemie1

Also, layering a ton of Gemma Redux necklaces makes a glamorous yet disheveled statement.

SP_gemma

Love socks with platforms with little dresses and trenches, too. Burberry did it best.

SP_burb

Really really feeling Navajo jewelry..lots of it. Go for Jacquie Aiche's earrings or go authentic with this Navajo Brown Yei Beaded Necklace.

SP_navajo

Overall for spring I am definitely going to be wearing lots of fringe, patchwork, bright colors, and florals. I think mixing florals with denim and hints of lace is really fresh, and all paired with stripes. Spring's going to be all about mismatching in a nonchalant, complimentary way.

Lastly, I am loving green for spring. Bring on the green accessories from this Nylon editorial!

SP_green-nylon

When it comes to spring beauty I think bright eyes, dewy skin and grapefruit pink lips. Love using Sea Horse from Carina's spring color set on my eyes, along with the Sparkle Beige Lucent Powder and the Pink Lemonade Lippie.

SP_makeup

FUN TASK:

What look are you excited to try for spring that you've never worn before?

I'll pick my favorites and they'll receive a cheery mix of my spring essentials, including Sea Horse eyeshadow and Ettika's Moss Green Leather Knot and Faceted Metal Bead Wrap Bracelet.

SP_etk-w3msgrn

'Til next Tuesday,
Love, Taylor

Congrats kimie marie, catherine traylor & FashionGirlMinx

Turquoise!
written by 14thstreet, March 02, 2010
This is a little nerdy but I always love checking out the Pantone color of the year and I am very very excited about bringing out 2010's color in the spring!

The color of the year is so fresh and bold and as I am usually a wearer of neutrals and darks I am excited to highlight my wardrobe with it:

Here is a fun Marc Jacob's look with turquoise polka dots!:

and a turquoise dress from Forever 21...

my favorites are Derek Lam's turquoise looks from the spring runway show:

Hi Taylor,
Normally I live in black and would run screaming for the hills from any bold color, but this blog entry has inspired me to find something new. I really like these 3 colorful looks from Proenza Schouler:

The tie dye and bold colors remind me of surf and skate culture in the 80's but seem pretty now.
Also, these 2 dresses (graffiti and shark print) from Unique for Topshop have just the right splash of color mixed with basic white or black and a silhouette that would be flattering on my body type:

Or it could be something as simple as just a new bright nail color like this Essie 80's neon redux in yellow that I'm keen on trying this spring. I think it would look great with a hint of a tan smilies/smiley.gif

I am super excited to rock out the socks with strappy heels look. It sounds bad but it looks so cute! I can't wait to do it with multiple socks layered under one another, and colourful contrasting socks that pick up on other colours of my outfit. Rompers and Vintage Swimsuits
written by kimie marie, March 02, 2010
Recently my mind has been all over the place when it comes to clothing. i just want everything. i was never a set style type of person, i just wear what i feel for that day. i have been looking into some amazingly cute rompers, they are just adorable. ive never worn one before but they are on my list for the spring. i think they are so great because they could be comfy or casual or even dressy.

http://imagecache.asos.com/inv/S/7/224/540665/Blue/image1xl.jpg

i also have been interested in some vintage one pieces. i cant remember wearing a one piece except for when i was a child, but they are just too cute to pass up.

http://www.inacod.com/lifestyle/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/burgundyclassicsheath.jpg

it reminds me of the swimsuit worn by Wendy Peffercorn in the movie The Sandlot, I Love it!

Hey Taylor! I'm excited to be working my first Spring out of college! This is the first time I'll be able to experiment in a professional environment. I'm excited to be able to mix the hard pieces of a professional environment, suits and basic black items, with the fun floral and soft pinks/beiges of Spring. I'm in ballet classes now and I think I'll be taking a lot of influence from them, maybe even mixing and matching to add a few of my ballet items to my work items. We'll see! smilies/grin.gif

I am team clogs all the way! I used to have a pair in High School (and our High School was 4 stories high) It was quite something to clog my way up the flights of steps every day and everyone always knew I was coming, but they were so cute! Great to see them back.

I always tend to stop shopping once the spring clothing comes out because I am not one much for pastels and generally that is all I can seem to find, but I am thrilled to see these bohemian styles out. I think this spring I am going to add more color to my wardrobe
SPRING!!!!

I always like to go very conceptual for my seasonal looks, so I think this spring I'm going for 'shipwrecked victorian orphan/ appalachian medicine show'

I'm taking a lot of inspiration from this photo:

what they're wearing, and also the general mood and attitude.

lots of knee socks, diaphanous, lacy dresses, my mom's vintage doc martens which look like victorian lace up boots, ripped stockings, etc. I don't use much color in my wardrobe as a whole, mostly black, cream, salmon, and white, sometimes with a pop of royal blue or red, hot pink, or purple tights.

I feel like spring, for me, is mixing prints with a ton of jewelry for day, and sharper metallics with basics at night.
For day, these are all on my wishlist:

my spring is still always influenced by that Luella ghost world collection. (and anja!)

i have this photo up in my wardrobe for constant consideration:

the cut of this wang tank makes me die inside, in a good way.

i like low heels for day, i just got a vintage black croc pair about this height.

but when i don't want a heel, i love these wallabeeeees

NIGHT!
I tend to gravitate toward sheer tights (of course those Belenciaga polka dot ones!/backseams) with a bandage skirt and something sparkly with minimal jewelry.
my vintage sequin collection is kind of enormous. currently lusting this dress:

and can't stop wearing this skirt
[img= ]http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kxjsxlbzFa1qai2y0o1_500.jpg

in terms of shoes, i'm sort of heavily invested in mens shoes. my mom always wore them when i was younger so i grew up wearing them, this trend makes the selection so much wider, which makes me happy.

still not over studs. (and would subsequently STILL kill for that ysllllllll)

aaaaand these topshop beauties.

in terms of jewelry, i'm alllllllllll about white and gold enamel lately.

so that's it! the only thing that remains to be seen is if i will attempt that wang corseted sweater.

I'm also a huge fan of the neutral colors that are popular this season. It allows a variety of jewelery, shoes, scarves, and purses to go with any outfit, and these are usually my favorite parts of my outfit to pick out!
I'm also thinking about trying out some of the cute floral prints that are popping up. I don't wear florals, so maybe this will be the season to give them a try. Maybe pair them with a cute desert shoe...

For some reason I can't upload the picture that I had in mind, but I'm sure ya'll have seen it! With your blessing (and Karl's), I am eager to try clogs, which I've never rocked in fear of being publicly ridiculed and stoned, haha. Once in Hong Kong I encountered a beautiful pair in a department store window. The mannequin had on the cutest Proenza Schouler dress, but my attention was pulled to her feet: adorable clogs, which made the whole ensemble cuter. My friends were immediately aghast."CLOGS?" one friend exclaimed. "Clogs? Are you taking up clog dancing lessons? Are we back in the '90s? You might as well wear Crocs." I protested, pointing out the marked differences between clogs and Crocs, but my words fell on deaf ears, and I gave in to the ridicule. I wish I'd found out who made them; they were ridiculously cute (not to mention they'd add inches to my short height). When I came across a few sites featuring clogs, I felt a pang of regret. I should have bought them! The pair in HK and I were not meant to be, so I'm a mission to find an equally cute pair at home because I've since bought a ton of cute mini dresses.

I'm also eager to try on "The Minx" jean. I'm very picky about the fit of my jeans, and I never could find a pair of ultra skinny jeans that fit just right. I'd usually have to settle for the less-fitted ones when I actually wanted them very fitted in the knees and thigh without making my butt look weird! smilies/tongue.gif

Hello Taylor, and everyone,

Its autumn here now, just a few days ago. It’s beautiful weather, not too hot, not too cold.
I love it. ^_^ I can go out and do not have to worry about getting burn form strong sun, or cold winter 

I love wearing shorts, but mostly I have just in plain color, denim.

And we are going to Thailand again next week. I will definitely find some print shorts, like florals print, and also I would try to find some legging and pants in florals print as well. To go with some singlets top or comfortable materials top.

And also I would love to wear walking shoe in floral print, with my plain short. I do not have any shoes like that yet, have to do a lot of looking, shopping, and negotiating haha.

Thank you, 

LEGOS!

This year, i found that lego accessories are becoming more and more popular. Using legos to decorate earings, necklaces, belts, bags and hairbands are becoming increasingly popular. Not a big surprise there since legos, with their fun outstanding colors that bring back tons of childhood memories, is bound to make a comeback someday, and this times is not with those who are 6 and under smilies/grin.gif.

I can't wait to try it out. I already bought a box of legos. I think i will invit some friends over and have a lego accessory making party. I would love to make some fun colored lego rings and buttons. Oh!! i can make lego decorate hats or even spice up my heels with some lego apples!

However, i have chosen to wear a more edgy outfit, something i use to avoid because i didnt have the confidence to wear it, bit now i thought who cares what others will say wear something i wantsmilies/cheesy.gif

the out fit is as following:

rock tshirt dress
knee high boots
trendy retro bag

and simple jewellery

its so different but i really looking forward to wearing itsmilies/smiley.gif

After seeing this exhibition at the museum of world culture in Gothenburg this weekend I have decided to take a more folksy boho turn in my fashion choices this spring. I intend to knit a jacket influenced by the paracas textiles, and I absolutely adored the Navajo jewelery!

I have always wanted to wear a bright coloured kimono dress like this one, even though I'm not Japanese.

I would also love to wear flowers in my hair like these

I am finally going to learn how to french braid a headband into my hair like this!!! I've been trying but it's really difficult!

I am feeling frilly this year, I want to go super girly with lace and flowy fabrics.

I am diggging that bohemian vibe you're putting out there.

Cant wait for the weatther to warm up so I can get my girly on.

Hey Taylor, love the blog and LOVE your style. Any tips for what to wear when it comes to music festivals (coachella, sxsw, etc.) ?
Feminine edge

I hope to merge sweet femininity with edgy, unexpected pieces. And although I am not blessed with a model figure, I am going to go bare legged!

I have this See by Chloe dress in printed black but the lighter colorway would really stand out for spring. It is also a nice alternative to florals (which I love and have in spades but want to mix it up):

I would pair this girlie frock with a structured, more masculine schoolboy inspired satchel.
I dream of this Proenza Schouler PS1:

But it is much more realistic that I'll use a vintage Coach number that I scored for a song on ebay.

Or if I need more bagspace, a Balenciaga Day in Black (which is still pricey but not in the PS1-range):

I live in a city and walk most places so I'll likely pair it with comfy but cute purple patent flats by Jimmy Choo.

And if it is a crisp spring morning, I'll top it with a leather hoodie like this one from Mike and Chris:
