In life, I sometimes find that the things I enjoy the most are often majorly mortifying. Then again, who doesn't have their own list of guilty pleasures?
Guilty pleasures just make life better.
Today, I'm going to fill you in on some of my guiltiest pleasures. From cheesy music to my indulgences, I'm sharing these slightly embarrassing yet totally awesome picks with FAN CLUB for the first time..some of my friends don't even know I like a few of these!
When it comes to cinema, I can't help but love those super cheesy movies that aren't just so-bad-they're-good, but are so-completely-terrible-they're-GREAT.
"Showgirls" is a movie that's just totally awful but is one of my favorites. Love watching this with friends and quoting the ridiculous dialogue, darlin'.
Can't get enough of Cristal Connors.
I'm a total secret romantic, so it's not a surprise I'm a sucker for sappy romantic comedies. The ones from the '80s are the best... love "Can't Buy Me Love," "License To Drive," and especially "Sixteen Candles."
Jake Ryan is soo dreamy.
I'm also into horror movies. I thought the recent movie "Sorority Row" was really fun, and I'm such a fan of the "Final Destination" and "Scream" films.
My guilty food pleasures are kind of funny. I am a sucker for Nestle Drumsticks, and with Easter just around the corner, I love frozen Peeps. So good!
I love Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Whoever invented this combination is a genius.
There's nothing better than lounging in bed ("Club Whitesheets," as I like to call it) while watching bad reality television. "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" on E! is my favorite. Love Kim.
As far as my guilty pleasures when it comes to fashion and style, it's one of my little secrets that when I'm at home, I love wearing a silk slip (love Agent Provocateur or Kiki de Montparnasse) with my super comfortable Free City sweats.
Breaking "fashion rules" is another guilty pleasure of mine. Recently, a trend that has long made me cringe, "double denim," has made a comeback in a really fresh way. My tips for successfully (and stylishly) wearing double denim is to mix a bleached out or acid wash denim button up with inky dark cutoffs or ripped skinnies.
Just make sure it's not all one color tone and you'll be okay.
I'm loving the various hues of denim on Alexa Chung from her recent "Vogue" editorial, as well these shots from a shoot in the "Elle Sweden" February 2010 issue.

As I'm sure you can tell, I love a really really dark eye. Save dramatic makeup for a night out? No way. I'm guilty of wearing bold eyes anytime and all the time. I get my look with Black Eyeliner and Little Black Dress.

Another guilty pleasure of mine is I am obsessed with playing board games. Game nights with friends include Monopoly, Jenga, Taboo, the Ouija Board..or going old school with charades. So much fun.

When it comes to music, I admit it... I love cheesy dance songs.
"The Sign" by Ace of Base always gets me going.
"Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice is just the best song ever.
I'm guilty - so book me!
FUN TASK:
What is your all-time guiltiest pleasure?
Some of my favorites will win Black Eyeliner and Little Black Dress, along with the "Scream" DVD Triple Pack.

fanfiction....
I'm an English major so I've read some really good and classical works.
Fanfictions are on the other side of the scale.... they lack some if not ALL the literary conventions that were drilled into my brain and all the NO NO's that I learned from Writing 101 but... sometimes I can't help but indulge in mindless fiction
.
And I just want to say w00t! Scream! So proud of Neve Campbell!

But the most guiltiest is a movie weekend with my hubby I am wearing my yellow sweats (which BTW my hubby HATES) the most comfortable sweats in the world!!! A simple t-shirt free of bras and any other shields. Snuggling with hubby, eating pop corn and tostitos with salsa & cheese dip!!!! Yes both!!!
We don't do this enough with our busy schedule but when we do - O BOY!
hmmmmm I am drooling just thinking about this!
And that is my guilty pleasure..of course I work out extra hard the next day to loose extra few pound I gained..but all WORTH IT!!

-Surf movies. Like that line in Ghost World..."This is so bad it's gone past good and back to bad again." In public I can gab all day long about Citizen Kane, but I secretly love Point Blank, Blue Crush, Big Wednesday, etc. Crashing waves, pretty scenario, buff and tanned bodies, and cheesy dialogue you can make a drinking game to (take a shot every time "dude" is uttered). What's not to like?
-Horror movies, too. They never scare me, but they're still a blast to watch. I like everything from the ones aimed at teen boys (Which big-boobed girl is going to bite it first?) to the atmospheric European ones with demonic children that make you want to get your tubes tied.
-Cheesy '90s sitcoms with characters spouting lame catch phrases. Even funnier when you're in a foreign country and the dialogue's dubbed.
-Pancakes at The Griddle Cafe. Banana and brown sugar mixed in into the batter? Yes please! I swear they put crack in it. The pancakes are bigger than my head, and I'd bathe in their syrup if I could. My doctor would probably smack me if he knew how often I indulge in these. I love bringing home the leftovers, heating them up the next day, and sitting in bed eating them while watching TV.
-Court shows. I watch Judge Judy, The People's Court, etc. purely for the moments when the judges lay down a smackdown and tell the people to shut up and not interrupt in their courtroom.
-The Maury Show. I know, I know. I have a problem. If I channel surf and come across the show and he's in the middle of interviewing some guest who wants to find who her baby's father is, I must finish the show to find out if Man #1 or Man #2 (or #3? 4? 5? 6? 10) is the father. Why do I care? I don't know these people, and it's not like I'll remember them when the show ends. But I still must know or it'll bother me forever. I love bad TV!
-Cuban potato balls. Mashed potatoes, meat, fried outer crust...delicious! I have no self control when it comes to these. I can probably devour a whole box of these in one sitting.
-Flip flops. I love my Louboutins, but I REALLY love my Havaianas because walking them is like a religious experience. So comfortable! Feet happy!
-The Spice Girls. So cheesy, but their songs are so much fun. I secretly wish they still made Spice Girls gum that come with collectible stickers. The uber tall platform shoes can stay in the '90s, though.
If confronted about these in real life, I will deny everything!

My biggest guilty pleasure would have to be Disneyworld or anything Disney-related for that matter.
I make it a point to visit at least once a year! Some of my friends may think I'm a closet 10 year-old-girl, but stepping onto Mainstreet USA and seeing the castle puts me in a different world where all my cares and worries vanish. It brings me a certain joy and giddy-ness that nothing else can remotely compare to!
As for TV, I'm quite the fan of Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker and The Bachelor on ABC. Both are super cheesy, it's true, but that's exactly what makes them so super addictive.

I find it totally compelling!
I'm also a sucker for 80s music, especially things like Duran Duran and Howard Jones. It was a great time in my life and it seems like the last time popular music didn't take itself sooooooo seriously.
I also have a very soft spot in my heart for the early John Cusack movies like "Better Off Dead" and "One Crazy Summer". Sadly, I can quote the entire "Better Off Dead" dialogue verbatim.
Cheesy and oh-so-satisfying!!!

i love to HATE the bachelor, i think the show is such garbage. Yet, I find myself watching, telling everyone to be quiet every Monday. I have no idea why I watch it, because it constantly makes me angry- but it's a must.
Juicy- Notorious B.I.G- this isn't really embarrassing, but I HAVE to listen to this song at least once a day.. usually when I'm walking to class.
I know every line to Big Daddy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and The Big Lebowski. These movies never get old. I also find a way to incorporate a line from each in daily conversation everyday. So much fun.
I love a good college basketball game. We are now in march madness season and I'm dying. I love filling out brackets and watching basketball all weekend, but ONLY college ball (for the first week, I even get to indulge in shamrock shakes and basketball- its a dream come true). I'm not a basketball fan, but I can't get enough of watching my school (Michigan State). I'm never serious, until it comes to march madness.

I can't do this every day, of course, but some sundays are my indoor sundays.
I also love showering, and spend around 10-30 minutes in the shower every morning.
I think hot water are wonderful when I'm sleepy in the morning

And now for the guilty pleasure...
Ahhh this is sort of embarrassing, but my guilty pleasure is listening to Miley Cyrus songs, and its not just Party in the U.S.A., its the cheesy songs from Hannah Montana like "If We Were A Movie" (a personal fave ha ha ha), "He Could Be The One", and "Best of Both Worlds". I play it loud when no one's around and even sing along.

my all-time guiltiest pleasure is a big old skillet of baked mac & cheese with tater tots, waffles on the side, and a big bowl of bread pudding a la mode! I'm on a diet right now, prepping for a half marathon, so I'm not letting myself eat anything greasy. Just fantasizing...

another guilty pleasure is watching movies with my best friend.our other friends think we're annoying because we always put the volume down and make up random and nonsense dialogs while we watch them, now we just don't invite our friends anymore and enjoy our movies' days without their complaints

It is embarrassing... a 24 year old professional woman should not be into vampires... yet I can't help it. Twilight, True Blood, Interview with a Vampire (um, young Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise... they can bite me anytime).
I like to cuddle on the couch in my high school sweat pants and an old copy of any sort of vampire book (I bow down to you Anne Rice) and pretend that I'm still in high school and Edward is coming to bite me any moment!

I love them- they are too funny, and I also love Mystery Science Theatre 3000. So sad they dont make it anymore because they do still make terrible B movies. anyone see Death Racers? Hahahaha!
written by akcober, March 16, 2010
Second, Ben & Jerry's Phish Food. Amazing.
Add a cheesy girl power movie like "Blue Crush" or "Stick It." I must say, Stick It is full of one liners and hysterical comebacks.
To round it off, Harry Potter. Already planning my vacation to The Wizarding World at Universal Studios. Best books ever.

My guilty pleasures?
Romance novels. Cheesy, popcorn style, full of lustiness romance novels. Love Nora Roberts, Diana Gabaldon, Joanna Lindsey particularly! No better way to spend a Saturday than in the sun on my deck, reading a fun, engaging romance with a cold bottle of Corona. Bliss!!
Video games. I love Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy... What kind of 30 something woman loves video games? Me. I stopped advertising that fact years ago. LOL
Heavy music. I hate Coldplay. I love Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Megadeth and Slayer. LOL
Greasy food: Nachos, Fries, Cheeseburgers, pub grub style finger food.
Kids movies: I love Disney movies, Pixar, animated features. Light hearted comedies. Anything easy with a happy ending. Life is hard enough without watching ugly movies about the struggles of humanity, the ugliness in life and all that jazz. I like my entertainment to be entertaining!! Although I kind of like zombie movies too.
written by Sandy M., March 16, 2010
And what's the 2 most unhealthiest combo: HOT CHEETOS CHIPS DIPPED IN CREAM CHEESE! SO BAD, BUT SO GOOD! Can't forget to throw in that McDonald's hashbrowns!
& Keeping up with the Kardashians is definitely one of my guilty pleasures as well. Their lives are pretty addicting! And did I also mention how addicting it was to watch Rachel Zoe say "I die" a bajillion times and you looking annoyed all the time on The Rachel Zoe project. MY FAVORITE PARTS OF THE SHOW FORREAL! haha

i always take out all the best chocolates and always use the line can you believe they didnt put any good ones in, when i am little less naughty
i leave one nice chocolate amongst the not so appetizing ones in my opinion. I came acrross a video of Jordan Knight singing the song baby i beleive in you, well his shirt is opened, he has beautiful abs, sexy dance moves. I have the excuse is that i want abs like that so i have to watch (drool) the video
I always volunteer to cut the cheesecake which i adore simply just so that i can get the biggest slice, but it is so delicious and i am told i am such helpful person

my guilty little secret: I am so thrilled that the 80s in all their wackiness have made a come back- from the undertones in music like with the synth in the killers music, to acid wash jeans, I am like loving this and also kicking myself for not holding onto some of my nicer things from the 80s haha.
finally... I am addicted to coke light- I drink it like water, I know- so bad for me but it's so good!

I also am a total nerd for the CW. I have all my shows set to record on my DVR…Gossip Girl (my fave!), Life Unexpected (new, but so good!), 90210, One Tree Hill, Melrose Place, & Vampire Diaries! I can’t miss my shows!!! Hehe
Last would be my ultimate guilty pleasure, which is Everyday Minerals. I seriously have almost every color (of everything, except bases), including the reissue items. I keep an “inventory” of it so I don’t buy the same colors! How sad!! But I do love the options when choosing my makeup look for the day! Even if no one else notices, I still know that the colors are different! Plus I am a sucker for the cute names, lol! I am lucky that my SO supports this, otherwise I would have a lot of makeup to hide, lol! I’ve always been a makeup girl! Ever since my Aunty Elaine gave me my first kids compact!
Oh and by the way! Thank you so much Taylor for talking about how much you love OPI Lincoln Park After Dark! I just got it the other day and I am in love now too! I also really like You Don’t Know Jacques and Red My Fortune Cookie (which I’m wearing right now!)~!
written by elle_71125, March 22, 2010
- Frozen Peeps (I didn't even think anyone else did that)...they are so delicious and I can eat the whole box.
- PJs...as soon as I get home, I change into my PJs. They are just so comfortable. My hubby makes fun of me all the time about it.
written by jspanfili, March 22, 2010
We watched the first one at home about a month ago as a joke, and admittedly really liked it. New Moon was already out of theaters and the wait nearly killed us.
There, I said it, I'm a grown woman and I like Twilight.

Girl Scout Cookies!!!!
I love thin Mints and Samoas, always get 10 boxes and freeze them!
I also love Romance Novels, and Jimmy Buffet. hehe
written by Courttaney, March 27, 2010
I also love watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians on E! Kim is so fierce and Khloe is so candid. I love everything about that show.

But first is "The Sign" by Ace of Base. I remember when I was about 5 when I heard the song, I kid you not it was "this song is my jam!" moment. And ever since then, when that song comes on, you better believe I am blasting the volume singing along.
Second is "Catch Me if You Can." This is so embarassing for me to admit because it's from the first Pokemon movie! I know, awkward! Whenever I tell my friends, they're like, "um, ok?" But when that song comes on, I swear it is the one song that NEVER EVER fails to get my heart going and the blood rushing. It's so cheesy that the motivation can last a lifetime.
