I’m focusing on ‘70s-inspired glam and luxe dressing in today’s blog... such a groovy retro flashback with today’s modern influences.
I was flipping through the new issue of “Elle” and came across a piece called “‘70s Sensual: Redefine Power Dressing In Buttery Silks, Luxe Trousers, Honey-Colored Fur, and Sleek Neutral Accessories.” Soo good.

This inspired today’s blog, and I want to give you my take on ways to incorporate ‘70s glam into your wardrobe.
I’m going to start with a few style icons that I think really embody the ‘70s glam vibe. Let’s use them for inspiration.
Bianca Jagger (as I mentioned in my caftans blog) is the epitome of retro chic.
When she stepped out in the YSL white tuxedo was an epic fashion moment.

This pic of B and Mick is great.
Cheryl Tiegs was a quintessential ‘70s California girl.

I love Carla Bruni. Her polished style takes cues from the ‘70s.
Steve McQueen had the best men’s style during the decade. Great tips for your guy.

Last we have the always amazing Lauren Hutton - obsessed with her.

When I think ‘70s glam, I think of high waisted wide leg pants, big sunglasses, faux fur, platforms, silks and wools, and chunky necklaces.
Michael Kors is doing it well right now, as is Chloe, Gucci, Proenza Schouler, and Pucci.
Chloe’s Fall 2010 RTW was to die for.

Then again, you really can’t beat vintage YSL and Halston.
An effortless, chic way to get the look is pairing ASOS’ Silk and Lace Mix Jumpsuit with oversized sunnies like Topshop’s Large Plastic Sunglasses. Don’t forget a deep blush for your cheeks, like Carina’s Corner Office.

I hope I’ve inspired you to have fun with ‘70s glam!!!
FUN TASK:
If you could time travel to any decade and really live it up with the fashion of the time, what era would you choose and what would you wear?
A bunch of my favs are getting the Topshop shades and Corner Office.

For example :
My high waisted hot pants (70's)
with sequined shell (80's) - I love 80's grandma glam
a crochet hippie cape (60's)
with a pair of ultra bright tights (NOW)
and my booties from Vegetarian Shoes,
I also collect granny broaches from different eras I pick up at garage sales and thrift shops and like to cover my denim jacket or my tote with rhinestone pineaples and grape clusters of fake pearls.

Take for instance Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina. She looked so elegant in this Givenchy gown.
And who could forget this dress worn on Elizabeth Taylor in A Place in the Sun. Her waist looked so teeny and the skirt of the dress was so full. The perfect look!
Grace Kelly in Rear Window. She looks so elegant in this dress and those white gloves complete this look!
I also love swimwear from the 50s, just like the one Marilyn is wearing.
The women from Mad Men, always dressed to perfection in 50s' style pieces.
I also loved the way men dressed in earlier times. They dressed like such gentlemen, always wearing suits and hats, like Leo in this picture from Revolutionary Road. I wish they still dressed this way!

Broad shoulders, belted tight waists, and flowing mid calf skirts.
Women still wore hats, and gloves. Like ladies.
And heels.
They carried themselves like they knew they looked like a woman. I wish I could have lived those days.

I think that these times were beautiful. People were wearing colorful, shiny and extraordinary clothes. They were playing with the fashion and they have a lot of different ideas about wearing the same clothes. Nowadays, when you are looking extraordinary people are staring at you, and talking about you. Sometimes I want to wear these sequin leggins, soooo much over-sized sweater, do the most crazy make-up (includes fuchsia on my eyelids and cobalt on my lips!) and hairdo and just go for a walk or for the most crazy party in my live, where I can dance and singing with these times star- Madonna!
Yeah, 80's are definitely times for ME!
And bonus photo ;-):
Me and my friends throwed a New Year's Eve Party in the 80's style... It was great fun, great music and.. great clothes (leggins required!)
Look at this:
I hope you like it!
Kisses!

Thank you for taking the time to create this fabulous blog!
You have definitely inspired me to explore more 70s glam! The glam rock aspect was the epitome of culture & society. It reflected the inspiration of this time through music & fashion combined.
David Bowie
I personally would like to live it up in 50s fashion.
This was a liberating & transitional time for fashion...it was very classy & elegant with a bit of revolution in the air. Not to mention the fabric breakthroughs alone! The early years of the decade were dominated by Dior, however, Chanel reopened in 54 to made some great fashion forward steps (as always) with the boxy-cut suits and of course, the famous Chanel 2.55 bag.
I would dress up in Chanel everyday...and wear No. 5!
Love all around,
Me

1960s fashion has always inspired me but honestly if i had to go back in time to my favorite fashionable time of this world it would be really tough i always go back in fourth with every time period because they were all unique and amazing. I would want to bounce around to the different time periods and not just go to one! Todays fashion thought is pretty epic it has a little bit of everything we're inspired today by fashion from all different times.
I love vintage always finding great things (especially in my moms closet of clothes she has from when she was a kid)
I love Bianca Jagger i wrote a paper for my fashion design class about how she and her style have inspired me growing up.

it was about having fun, showing your wild side, it was trend setting and stylish.
The fashion was cool, the clothes really inspiring and the style totally groovy.
I like the the brightly colored fabrics with unusual styles and vibrant patterns; long flared skirts, bell-bottom pants. the clothes were really funky and chic.
The hooded dresses which were long and flowing with long sleeves and loud colors.
The bags were lovely i like all the cotton fabrics used for bag, the decorative patterns.
I like how they accessorized their clothes with handmade jewelery, colorful headscarves, headbands.
The clothes, the fun makeup, music, the fashion was simply brilliant.

i would wear a pair of unwashed, dirty bell-bottoms, a fringy vest over a flowy shirt, clogs, a headband & huge sunglasses. i can totally picture myself bombing around, listening to music that my grandchildren would one day appreciate.

A time when rainbows and peace signs actually meant something and not just used as decorations.
The 60's were a time of fashion forwardness and harmony.
GO 60's!!!!!!

Dear Taylor and Taylorettes,
No offense to the 1920s(and 30s and 40s and 50s and 60s and 70s and 80s), 1700s, 1800s, or ancient Roman/Asian times, but I think the era of all eras to set the dial to on our flashback-fashion travel machine should be the good ol' glory days of Xena. That's right, Xena. (Pronounced: Zeena; in case you've never seen the show, or played the video game, or had a semblance of a life outside the basement of your parents' home.) The grooviest of groovy warrior princesses who, along with her ever faithful sidekick, Gabrielle, never missed an opportunity to kill or mame the bad guys, and "slay" the good ones.
Impossible to couture travel to a time and a place that never existed, you say?
Think again! It seems those mythical Amazonian women of ancient Greek lore weren't so mythical, afterall. And recent archaeological findings show that they were far more
heavily armored, better equipped, and impeccably dressed to the military nines, than their yucky male enemy counterparts.
Imagine, cavalries of bold/proud/strong/GORGEOUS women wreaking havoc upon the male dominated worlds that dared to try to weigh them down. And talk about being dressed to kill! Thems were the days when solid gold fore-arm length cuff-bracelets were meant to intimidate, distract, and deflect the jabs and blows of the enemy while you royally "knighted" them with your mighty sword!
When our trip is over, do you think we could maybe bring some of them back to 2010 with us?
Lastly,
Proof that Taylor knows what she's talking about. Capes ARE cool!!...

I would love to have grown up in the late '60s, early '70s! How beautiful their style was! So carefree and natural! I love it. People seemed to have a genuine love for life, which you don't always see today. They way of life was so different, that I'm kind of jealous I didn't get to experience it!! I love the prints and designs with the free flowing material! Gorgeous!
Oh and I can totally see myself wearing this. I love it!!!
