A few summers ago, I had a new group of friends, we were all new to each other and we discovered that we all loved the same song and it was amazing, everywhere we would go we would play it all the time in the car.

Of all things, I was on a school trip to the seaside. My best friend Katrina and I were about 11 or so, and it was my first time on a big Ferris wheel. The two of us were in the seat, laughing and looking at the view out over the beach, and that song was playing...
"I bless the rains, down in Africaaaa......"
as we went round, and round, up and down. It felt so perfect, the warm breeze and the laughter. Incidentally, I'm still friends with Katrina now at the age of 37, and both of us are mothers! But we still go out sometimes, carefree and filled with laughter like we were that day.
Thanks for making me think of that, I feel happy now!

Nazareth "Whiskey Drinking Woman" and AC/DC "Back in Black".
I always think of summer in the early '80's sitting in the park with all of my friends and rockin out.
And when possible sneakin some beer!
Nowadays I'm rockin with my 4 year old grandson in the back yard with some Lady Gaga!

My favorite lyrics from the whole song are:
"Moats and boats and Waterfalls, Alleyways and payphone calls
I been everywhere with you
Laugh until we think we'll die, barefoot on a summer night
never could be sweeter than with you"
Every single time I hear it, I get chills. I'm definitely going to miss this summer, but I guess we'll file it away with the summers past and look forward to next year.

I don't know anyone who doesn't love Hotel California as a favorite summer song.
One song that always takes me back to summer is Free bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Four years ago I had my first road trip. A couple friends and I drove to California, mid summer with no air conditioning! Free bird was a song that we all stopped to sing along and rock out to. Such an amazing and classic song. That road trip was one of the best memories of my life!

I called in and sang in a very high pitched voice "Oh Michelle (name of DJ) I LIKE IT, YEAH BABY I LIKE IT!" Not only did they play it back on the radio, but again and again and again, everytime they played that song for the next month.
The next day, everyone was texting and calling me about it, saying they heard me on the radio.

My #1 song for driving to the beach with my girlfriends, windows down, and rockin out is "Dammit" by Blink 182 . It's such infectious pop-punk you can't help but get into it! Especially if youve just had your heart broken by some guy, the lyrics make it seem so much less important by showing that everyone goes through this kind of stuff and its all part of growing up!

My favourite songs for this summer have been related to the wonderful vacations i have spent with my boyfriend who unfortunatly had to leave to study in another country. So i have songs of joy and happiness

1- Goldfrapp- rocket, this amazing disco inspired song was playing on the radio when me and my boyfriend were driving at night along the Greek coast with mojitos in our hands and walking on the beach
1- Florence and the Machine - rabbit heart , what a brilliant band, and singer !!

Now my favorite summer song is "LIMB BY LIMB" by Cutty Ranks. It brings me back to Dancehall and Reggaeton that I would hear thumping all day and night when I spent 3 months is the Carribean. They sure know how to party there and have some rad songs with infectious beats that get in your head and make you want to dance!

It remembers me of my childhood summers, when school was closed and I went to the beach everyday and the jukebox played this song again and again.
Another song I love is "One day" by Chris Isaak.

It remembers me of the 2002 summer, when I met my boyfriend. He gave me the LP "Always got tonight" (containing this song) by Chris Isaak as first gift for my birthday. I'll never forget that summer.
A recent song that remeber me of summer is "All summer long" by Kid Rock.

I said "This is my perfect Summer song!" as I listened it when I was to my hair stylist.
And I haven't changed idea
I simply love it! But If I have to choose I definetly will say "Estate" from Negramaro.
I know I'm a strange voice in this post choosing an Italian song from all the others, but this is just my favourite!
The title "Estate" is the translation of "Summer" in italian.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU5ceDPWL1w
You may listen the lovely rhythm also if you can't understand all the words
And of course there's a story behind it!
It was summer '05, my graduation year.
I woke up early in morning, pick my car and then pick up my school friends and all togetrher went to my friend Enzo's Home.
The purpose was one "Studying for the exams" but we've done lots of other funny things that will remain forever in my heart.
In spring I had a car accident, I was really scared from driving again but thanks to my friends I started drive again, because they asked me to pick them up and go.. everywhere!
I remember that summer with Me driving (!! driving well
) My closest friends, good exams results, and a summer that.. as the song says, " I don't want to ever end! " xoxo

For me, summertime is about warm weather, the beach, and having a lot of fun with friends. Some of my best memories stem from summer fun and its carefree days. If I can choose only one song that reminds me of these happy summer times, I would have to pick the jammin', freestyle song Summertime, Summertime by Nocera. Every time I hear that song I instantly feel happy and lighthearted and want to get up and dance. It's a totally feel-good song. When I was in school, the last two weeks before summer vacation always brought about a change in the literal and figurative air. My friends and I could just taste the freedom coming. We laughed harder and played more and maybe got into a little more harmless trouble. Finals week didn't seem so bad because there was no homework and we knew that as soon as our final exams were completed we were home free. Woo-hoo! One memory in particular is of one of those last days of school one year. One of my friends brought his CD boombox to play during lunch and after school, which we were allowed to do. He had dubbed a CD of one his uncle's old school, freestyle albums and brought it to share with us. We were hanging out after school waiting for a few friends who had an extra class. One of the songs that played was Summertime, Summertime. The music was so jammin' and just got into our feet. Everyone in the quad was dancing and laughing and having a good time. A couple of administrators walked by and eyed us more than once and we weren't sure what to make of it. Finally, one headed our way and we wondered if we were breaking some rule by being so happy. At that moment, a really cool history teacher entered the quad and started trying to sing. He came over and danced with us for a few minutes, which made us laugh even more. He was so good-natured and everyone in the whole school, students and staff alike, could not help but love this guy. The administrator that was heading our way changed his mind and left us alone. We then walked/danced our way to a nearby ice cream shop. The weather was so warm and so the ice cream treats were even more refreshing than usual. Our other friends met up with us about a half hour later. We decided to take our party to the beach. Some of the guys thought it would be fun to dunk some of us girls in the water and get our hair wet, thinking that we would mind. Most of us welcomed the cool water and we had such a great time talking, joking, laughing, and splashing each other. Later that evening we all pitched in and built a bonfire and made s'mores. All the while, we listened to music on our friend's boombox and we enjoyed the song Summertime, Summertime a couple of times more that evening. Whenever, I hear that song I am not only reminded of that playful day, but of every summer season that brings its own new adventures and special memories. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Gee...
It's raining again
And it's so hot
I wish you'd come for me
And take me away
Take me away
[BEGIN CHORUS]
Take me
Take me to the water
Summertime, Summertime
Maybe, we can fall in love
Summertime, Summertime
[END CHORUS]
I listen to the rain outside
Please come and take me for a ride
I really want you
To come and take me far away
I want to say
CHORUS
I was dreaming lying on the sand
You turn to me and take my hand
I can't believe it's true
But you call me out today
I hear you say
CHORUS 2X
Take me baby

it was my favorite song of that summer while we got ready to go out, cruise around, and have fun.
written by jbroni1000, September 06, 2010
it is a reggae song, really cheesy, he had his shirt off showing off his abs, the location is gorgeous.
it has a really summer vibe, really catchy tune.
and yes, i fancied him, thought he was brilliant, i had his pictures, taped him anywhere where he performed the song.
I want to be with a woman just like you
No doubt i'm the only man
Who can love you like i can
So just let me be with the woman that i love
Baby girl... Shine like a looking glass
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Mysterious girl
lol, nice lyrics.

Anyways their ULTIMATE summer song is called "Beach Song" I think it's a catchy punk classic , even for this lady who LOVES to lie on the beach.
The Dead Milkmen - Beach Song
Sand is hurting my tender feet
The air smells like rotting fish and solarcaine
I hate the people on the beach
With their towels and umbrellas, they're so insane
I don't wanna be on the beach! No! [x2]
I don't wanna be on the beach!
I don't wanna be on the beach! No!
I hate my girlfriend, she-she-she
Lies on the beach like a barrier reef
Soaking up the stupid sun
While the radio is blasting fun, fun, fun
I don't wanna be on the beach! No fun! [x2]
I don't wanna be on the beach!
I don't wanna be on the beach! No fun! No!
[x2]
This is no way to spend a summer
I've got sand caked on my feet
I gave my ice cream to a shark
And now I've got nothing to eat
No fun!
I don't wanna be on the beach! No fun!
I don't wanna be on the beach! No fun! No!
I don't wanna be on the beach!
I don't wanna be on the beach! No fun!
Another summer classic for me and my pals is Water Park by Royal Trux - it's a total sexy rocker!
