A spirited young singer on the rise, Vita Chambers is definitely one to watch!

This talented 17 year old is, like Rihanna, from Barbados - and is gaining quite a following on the pop music scene!
I'm totally loving Vita's first single, "Young Money."
So fun! "Young Money" was chosen by iTunes earlier this year as their "single of the week."
Vita has quite the busy year ahead, while most 17 year olds are worrying about pop quizzes and what to wear on a big date, Vita's plans include playing at Lilith Fair in July and opening for Justin Bieber on the second leg of his US tour.
Talk about great exposure!
Her newest single, "Like Boom," is really infectious. My daughter loves it, and I've found myself singing it around the house. Ha!
See what I mean?
&feature=channel
I love that Vita grew up in Barbados listening to a mix of her dad's favorite rock and roll music and her mom's favorite R&B tunes. Such eclectic influences!
Vita is also blogging for Seventeen Magazine during her time spent on the Bamboozle Tour - check out her superfun blog here!
I was really excited to ask Vita eight questions for today's PLAY blog... enjoy!
CARINA MENZIES: Hi Vita! Let's jump right into it. Your style is very playful, what is your go-to clothing store or brand?
VITA CHAMBERS: Hi Carina! Thanks for having me. I'd say Topshop in NYC and Joyrich in LA. I never leave those stores empty handed.
CM: I love Topshop! I definitely know what you mean. Who would you say are your current musical influences?
VC: Gwen Stefani, Pink, Queen and Ke$ha.
CM: What is your one beauty essential?
VC: Lip gloss!
CM: But then again, what girl doesn't love lip gloss! What is your favorite aspect of being a musician, Vita?
VC: The love I get from my fans. It's the most amazing feeling in the world.
CM: All-time favorite song?
VC: "Just a Girl" by No Doubt.
CM: Love it!
CM: How does being from Barbados shape your music?
VC: Barbados, stand up!! I always feel a Caribbean undertone in my music... those are my roots for life.
CM: So cool! Do you have any guilty musical pleasures?
VC: Hmmm...I don't feel guilty about any music! I'm proud of everything I listen to.
CM: What's next for you, Vita?
VC: Well, I'm continuing on the east coast run of the Bamboozle Roadshow, then opening for Justin Bieber's My World tour! And tomorrow I'm filming Nick Cannon's The Takeover on Nickelodeon!
Love her!
FUN TASK:
If you could go on tour with Vita and play in her band, how would you choose to rock out? What's your pop star fantasy?
I'll send a $25.00 ITunes Gift Card and a complete set of brushes to a few of my favorites!

and hang with celebrities afterwards. My pop star fantasy would be to shop at Tiffany and get my hair styled by Vita's Hairstylist before hanging out with her and other celebrity singers to a red carpet movie premiere.

So, this might be dorky, but as a little girl, I remember singing my heart out, walkman in hand, with the music from my favorite cassette tape blaring in my headphones. Haha, the eighties were a great time for music!
And my fantasy? I would imagine myself at the concert, singing loudly in the front row, getting all the lyrics perfectly, hitting all the notes. And then... Surprise of all surprises, the lead singer points at me and says my name! "COME UP ON STAGE AND SING WITH US!" Her invitation makes my heart skip a couple beats as I make my way up on stage, and it's my musical debut! My vocals mix impeccably with the rockstar's amazing voice, and I become one with the base, the vibe, the rhythm, the pounding of the speakers. I've got the dance moves down, and the crowd is rockin' out as I take center stage. All the hype escalates and crescendos. And then--
"Hey, turn those things down!" my mom hollers. And instantly I'm brought back to reality. Headphones on, I'm sitting in the back of our minivan on a road trip and I'm ten years old. My mom continues, "Don't you know that's gonna ruin your hearing!"
Ah, Mom! But it's not long before I'm back in my dream world, singin' my heart out for millions.
So, if I could tour with Vita Chambers, there would be two things I'd want to do. (I'm not much of a party girl, but I'd have fun in other ways.)
First, I would try my best to pick up some vocal tips along the way. I confess, my girlhood dream of singing still exists, and I'd love to learn pointers from someone like Vita who uses her vocals as a powerful instrument.
Second, I would volunteer to be the "errand girl." I love driving around in new places and seeing sights. So, if I was the "go-to" girl for any shopping, supply, food, or fun needs, I would get to see many places that I had never seen before. I'd get to try all kinds of new food and witness the latest fashion trends, plus I'd have the chance to learn bits and pieces of each town's history along the way. That sounds like fun to me!

If I could be a rockstar in Vita's band, I would be the drummer!! Absolutely the drummer!!! A female version of John Bonham, unforgettable drummer of Led Zeppelin!
When i was a child I played the piano, I loved it ... but when I grew up I began to dream of playing drums!
I love it because i think that the drum is the tool that gives the rhythm to the melody... but what I like more is the fact that the drum can change the melody! It can give a strong and hard sound (so rock !).... but it can also give a lighter and soft impression to the melody!
But my parents always said no to the drum, so it's just one of my dreams!
So dreaming 'n dreaming ....
If I was the drummer in Vita' band.....it would be absolutely great!
I can just imagine my self on stage! In would be so crazy and fun to fidget with chopsticks in hand...and play...and enjoy the stage!
It would be amazing to live of music, have fun and play to entertain others!
If I were on tour with Vita, I'd like to "live" every city we visit! It would be amazing to be completely immerse in the life of that places, to enjoy every moment and everything....people, food, events, museums, music, shopping!
I think the best thing about being around the world touring with a band is that you can visit new cities and new places, meet new people with different lifestyles, culture, ideas!
Certainly to be a musician or singer is an hard and important work, they must work hard and commit, but I think that musicians are lucky people because they can travel, play and have fun .... so .... I'm ready! Let's get start, Vita!!!

I'd play keyboards and do backing vocals or perhaps be behind the scenes as a tour manager or sound tech.
Touring in a bus , I'd take it easy , get caught up on some reading and use Rosetta Stone to learn Italian. On days off I'd go gallery hopping and actually be able to afford some art! For my "work" clothes I'd hit up Bestey Johnson for the most rock n' roll duds around.
I'm in love with these plastic shoes :http://www.betseyjohnson.com/s...56&np=8000
For food in my new pop life , I'd insist on catering from Millennium Restaurant in San Francisco.
http://www.millenniumrestaurant.com/
I'm getting hungry just thinking about their food!
At night , I'd bed down in luxury in the finest hotels and then get up early to hit the gym before hitting the road.
The icing on the cake in my imaginary pop life would be to sing a duet w/ Morissey , my favorite singer/lyricist ever. Since we are both animal rights activist we'd donate the proceeds from our single to Farm Sanctuary.

uh.. how can you rock out any bigger in a band than playing drums at Madison Square Garden!?!? I'd love to explore more of the U.S. (never been to Texas!) and it would be incredible to have my job be performing in all different kinds of venues. This post is so timely after the avant-garde beauty post, too, because Vita is rocking some seriously fierce eye looks in "Like Boom"! I'd rock out my makeup every day with fun looks like her bright lime green eyes and fuschia lips, and then those brushes would come in super handy

I would love to wear expensive clothes and shoes, and to have stylists put together different awesome, crazy, sexy and cute outfits for me. To have proffesionals doing my hair and make-up is another big part of the fantasy, and of course the big bonus: showing thousands of people my fabulous look while going crazy on stage!

DREAM 1
I would be introduced as the new member of the newly reformed boy band N'SYNC....they would have to say that they knew as soon as they saw my talent that they have to make room for a woman in their band! And the girls in the audience wouldn't hate but would be happy that i had such talent
OR
DREAM 2
I would display my talents to the world at one of the all time best "ladies" only concert--LILITH FAIR
I mean---sara mclachlan---OMG talent and /or Kelly clarkson!!!!!! Can you say future MUSICAL ICONS!!!! The talent at this show is amazing and i would be introduced to the world at it!!!!!!

I played the cello in my high school symphony. When I was first starting out as a freshman, I sat towards the back of the section behind the much more experienced upperclassmen. This placed me a couple feet away from the bass section, which consisted of eight people. While I wouldn't give up the cello, the bass was a very close second. I loved sitting in the back and having a front row seat to the sound of the entire bass section. To be honest, the bass isn't showcased as much as other instruments such as the violin, flute, and clarinet. But with every piece we played, I got to hear how exactly the bass played into the sound as a whole. It made me appreciate music so much more. So if I had translate that into Vita's band - it would be the bass guitar.
One popstar fantasy of mine is playing in the Royal Albert Hall in London -
Another one would be....
I remember this one performance by Britney Spears. I can't remember when or what the occasion was, but she performed on stage on the fountains of Bellagio. It was amazing to see the waterworks provide a very unique back drop for her performance. I remember her wardrobe was black and green and seeing the green lights everywhere absolutely beautiful.

With this Fun task the Dream Is awaken!
I've always dreamed about being a famous Popstar or a Famous Musician when I was Child.
When I was 5 I asked to Santa to realize a biggest wish: a keyboard and a Karaoke.
So, when Santa gifted it to me, I started my concert performances (all the neighbors were really happy! LOL), and I decided to create my little band (with my older cousins).
I was the voice, of course, and our Name was something like (in english): "Beauty and The Beasts" (ROFL!)
I, unfortunately, never realized my dreams of being a Popstar (but I had much fun with my Band
). Nowadays I forced my Boyfriend in buying ALL the console Games about Music (Singstar, Lips, Guitar Hero, Rock Band etc) because inside I always
feel like a little Popstar.
I admit: I'm that kind of person that, with empty house, start Singing out loud and Dancing! I can't Stop the Music.
Go on Tour with Vita would be the Greatest Experience of all My Life!
I've ever dream about travel on a Tour Bus (do you remember this one? The Spice Bus
) And sing a'capella with the band in the night, while street goes on.
I think is something Magic.
Well, Obviously I would like to visit all the places where our bus will stop, and shopping with Vita searching something Unique for our Style!
And every concert would be like the first time on stage, the same emotion, the same palpitation when you see that ALL THE PEOPLE are there for you!
And for the Music, of course!
But My biggest Dream If I would be a popstar, will be take part to Charity Events, HUGE Charity Events.
I think Music has Got the Power, no one could Stop the Power of the Music.
Music is the instrument to talk straight to people's Heart.
No words, no money can do What Music can Do.
Music never die, also after years lots of Songs appear truly inspirational.
Nothing like Music can move bunch of people and realize true deeds.
I was Breathless when I whatched LIVE AID on TV
I truly wanted to be there.
I saw all the people, all the Great Artists, scream with one voice, one beat, one sound
"Help the World"
I really love listening song played by many artists for an event, is a big big emotion.
And also "Hope For Haiti", and "Earth Day".
Concerts when Music can Speak, and do something Real.
If I would be in a Band I would be on stage, with all the poeple and the other artists singing for charity.
Come on Vita, wanna go?
Is there a place for me on the Bus?

its so lovely to see vita chambers already accomplish so much and she seems like a really nice girl, with style.
If i was in vitas band i imagine i would have the most awesome experience.
i would for sure get style tips from her during our tour because she is really rocking it with her outfits.
i would like to play the guitar on stage and sing the lyrics with her, just think of all the adrenalin you would have on stage, it would be loud, crazy and the fans would go wild. my music fantasy has always been with me with really wild hair, makeup, ripped jeans, a proper rock chic, i imagine myself on stage with so much confidence and enjoying the atmosphere.
it would be totally cool if we could actually do a concert in barbardos, on the beach, we would go shopping together, mix with the locals. we would need to a few edm lip glosses to make sure we are always looking fresh on stage.
i would jump around the stage with vita, in my fantasy i can do cool dance moves, we would have a few changes of outfits, we would really give the crowd a brilliant show.
we would then go swimming to cool ourselves and relax with nice fresh, exotic food.
written by Oxana 124, July 05, 2010
It would mean really fun and exotic makeup as well as getting to wear cool costumes!
It would be awesome to ride out singing on an elephant!

I'd love to sing on stage, drinking up the excitement and anticipation of the audience, blinded by the stagelights and free to let my inner performer, my secret wild child, out to play for the show. Afterwards, exhausted and exhilarated by the experience, I'd kick back in the tour bus to relax over a cold cocktail, chatting with Vita and the rest of the band, laughing about the performance, reliving the best parts.
And then, of course, doing it all over again tomorrow....
written by Rose W, July 06, 2010
My hair is really long, so I'd make it really wavy and headbang a little to my own beat as Vita sang her heart out to the music, and since I'd be in the back, I'd make the makeup really dramatic - dark brown smoky eyes with samba lessons standing out from my golden fair skin, and light pink all over so I shine in the light like a forever teenage vampire.
After the concert was over, we'd go to the after party at the swankest hot spot, and I'd bring my drumsticks and work out a beat on the table as everyone danced around.
In the morning (afternoon?) I'd really rely on my Aussie and PMUP to cover the signs of last night, throw on a bright red lippie, and go to brunch wearing huge sunglasses and a silk scarf around my head.
It would be awesome.

The next step of my rock star adventure would be shopping with a personal stylist. We would raid all of the best shops to create the ultimate wardrobe full of mix-and-match basics that I could wear for years to come (not that I would need to, since I’m a fabulous rock star), funky trendy pieces, a range of evening wear that would cover everything from fancy dinners out to the Grammys (where I would certainly collect at least a couple of awards to display in my rock star home), and, of course, lots of accessories and shoes.
Now that my rock star look and wardrobe is set, it is time to perform. My ideal performance location would have to be an outdoor concert at Covent Garden in London. I got to go there when I was in high school, and I would love to go back. Being part of the band, I would be the drummer. Drummers tend to have this really cool vibe that I just LOVE. The concert would end with a magical fireworks display. Afterwards, there would be party to attend with champagne and celebrities with whom to mingle. My day would end with my crashing out in my elegant hotel room on a bed fit for a princess (or rock star).
Is my fantasy a bit far-fetched for the drummer of a band? Maybe, but what is the point of a fantasy if it isn’t completely and totally over-the-top.

Basically who has never turned his radio up and began singing in her room, in front of the mirror with the brush that was a microphone?
My favourite stage, however, has always been the shower ... you can sing with the sound of water that covers your voice ... you feel free… without brakes …without shame!
After all who does not sing in the shower? We are all small rock stars when we soaped our hair!
Even now ... when I travel by train with headphones in my ears and the music up, I would begin to sing loudly and let the rhythm ... but I restrain myself ... to the delight of other passengers!
If I could go on a tour with Vita…it could be definitely a great emotion! A wonderful experience and absolutely funny and adventurous!
I must be honest.... Here in Italy I had never heard of Vita Chambers .... So when I read this post, immediately I take a look at her videos on YouTube!
I was really excited! Young Money and Like Boom are really amazing songs and Vita’s voice is so hot and strong! The videos are very very nice, too! (it must has been fun to burst all the balloons!!!)
Then she has a so sunny face and an energetic smile ... and I immediately thought she’s a very nice and funny girl! Moreover it would be impossible not to love her curly hair, they’re so beautiful as to envy!!
I think we could have lots of fun!
In Vita’s band I'd like to be another singer and guitarist!
It would be great lash out on stage, playing guitar and singing back to back with Vita!
Music is something incredibly lively and engaging ... the music makes you feel a lot of emotions and feelings, so you’ve the strong desire of singing and honouring the stage, people you are playing with and those who came to hear you!
Music can unite so many people who do not know each other, who’ve never seen before, who have nothing in common! And so you see people raise their arms, jump and sing all together!
They sing with you, and you sing with them ... and you both feel the same emotions!
and I think that would be wonderful if among the applause of all those people... Vita said "and at the guitar…..Lauraaaaaa..." and I began an acoustic guitar solo .... uhhhhhh ….. Wonderful!
I'd love also playing in the temple of Italian rock (I'm Italian) ... the San Siro stadium in Milan...the greatest musicians of all time played at San Siro stadium!
And then after a spectacular concert It would be so beautiful to go all together on our bus and laugh…talk about the concert....tell how nice was a banner, or what great performace we have, or how was thrilling and exciting to sing a song!!
And the next day we wake up and we’re ready to reach another destination and a new adventure .... This is one of the things I like most of going on tour all over the world ... You can visit many places you've never been; you can meet and know new people; you can eat at different restaurants every night and taste unknown food; we could do shopping together and going everyday in a different store and create our perfect style for the stage!
I think that it could be a beautiful experience to live this dream ... but it’s a dream ... and if I open my eyes I’m still with brush in hand in front the mirror!

And we'd exist the concert with fireworks all night!!!!

I would start with flying on the band's private jet...always wanted to do that. Then, I'd get all-out styled by the best--have my hair, make-up, and nails done, and have fantastic clothes picked out for me. Next, I'd have VIP access to all of the best restaurants for dinner before the show and all of the best clubs and parties for afterwards. Finally, after a long and crazy night, I would get to come back to the best decked-out suite/penthouse fit for a rock-star--complete with a hot tub and the comfiest bed ever. Sounds like a good deal!

written by Crystal Haak, July 07, 2010

I would work out a system, and go through every floor, trying things on, looking at stuff and testing the makeup and perfumes.
If I got hungry I'd hit the café and when I got tired I'd find the most sumptious bed they had and retire for the night. When morgning came I wuld simply blend in with the early shoppers and leave!
