ROMANTIC GETAWAY TRAVEL TIPS / ECO PETS TRAVEL IN STYLE!

RGTT_psp-poolside

Who doesn’t love a romantic summer getaway?

In the dead of summer, my hubby and I oftentimes long for a little escape, and one of our favorite destinations is the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs, CA.

What’s better than beating the heat poolside with a cold beverage?

RGTT_3458952170_d5ecff4fbd_o-1024x682

Their pool is super fun because there always seems to be some sort of live music playing!

One of the things I love so much about the Ace Hotel is the cool retro vibe of the property. It’s actually a renovated mid-century modern model, and a lot of the quirky vintage accents still remain.

Think of it as a chic campsite!

The free-spirited, bohemian vibe of the hotel is so cool, and the rooms are really eclectic and comfortable. They even have Free City bedding - amazing!!

The spa at the Ace gives the most divine outdoor massages, and their body treatments are so fab. The Ace is like me and my hubby's secret little spot for a mellow retreat. Love it!!

When I’m desert-bound, I keep my makeup as earthy and fresh as possible, choosing between Driftwood, Dreaming Dandy, and Juniper eye shadows.

As you may have guessed, another reason that this place is a favorite of mine is that it’s SO eco friendly... hooray!!

The Ace Hotel & Swim Club is a self-described green hotel and has numerous sustainable elements, such as recycled materials, low VOC paints and vintage furniture.

They just gained about a billion points in my book :)

Plus, the Ace is pet-friendly, meaning you can bring along Fido for your desert adventure.

And guess what? I’ve discovered a way for your fab pets to travel in eco style!

The 2010 Honda Element is offering an option called the Dog Friendly Pet System. Cool!

RGTT_honda-element-dog-fr-1_460x0w

And what does this Pet System entail? Comfort for your pooch and their tails, for one thing!

  • * The soft-sided car kennel is made by an automotive safety supplier
  • * Your pup can relax on a cushioned, elevated pet bed where they can see through the window
  • * A special ramp in the back to allow your dog to walk rather than jump into the vehicle
  • * A ventilation fan to keep Rover cool!

So cool!

The deal also comes with rubber floormats that feature a bone pattern, and a special paw decal on the driver’s side door.

Road trips with your puppy pal have never been this posh!

FUN TASK:

If you could add a special feature - kind of like the Pet Package - to your car, what would it be? A surf package, a shopaholic package? Get creative!

I am going to send Driftwood, Dreaming Dandy, and Juniper eye shadows to a bunch of my favorites! :

Outward Bound!
written by Gill Joseph, July 08, 2010
If I could have any "package" included, it would be one to indulge my passion for nature and the outdoors! My "Outdoor Adventure Package" would include:

- a "tailgate" area that opens up into a tent, including a bed and built-in light. The tent would have a clear top to allow me to fall asleep watching the stars;
- when I press a button whilst driving, it fires up the cooker so I can make food as soon as we stop;
- built-in GPS/satnav system with all the best camping sites programmed into it;
- rugged tyres and four-wheel drive for off-road site finding;
- survival kit as standard, under the passenger seat, including survival bag, blanket, emergency food bars, etc., for those unexpected situations!
- eco-friendly fuel consumption to make the whole thing as nature-compatible as possible!

I'd use this to travel around the beautiful country I live in, especially my own "secret little spot for a mellow retreat" - Glencoe in the Highlands of Scotland.

(I've walked the trail in that photo many times, and there's a wonderful inn at the end of it that serves THE nicest food!)
Massage Station on Wheels
written by TrueFrancesca, July 08, 2010
If I could get anything hooked up to my ride (which is itself a mere figment of imagination at this point), it would no doubt be a Massage Station ... yeah baby.

There will be no pimping in this ride. Just pure sweet pampering ...

I'm picturing myself in an !ECO-FRIENDLY! SUV of the future with a back door that folds downwards creating a kind of 'platform' and out pops the massage table for me to clamber onto!

On the roof, picture a nice infra-red light to warm those sore muscles.

And along the sides, there'd be compartments for massage oils, essential oils, incense, face masks, mud wraps ... and a sink. Yes, that's right. My SUV would have plumbing.

What else? Ahh yes, pinky-plonky relaxy music streaming through the speakers whilst I lay there getting my youth on.

And there has to be a floor compartment to house the towels, because we're trying to make this as realistic as possible now aren't we?

Am I missing anything else? ... Oh yes, that's right. The certified massage specialist that comes with the car if you buy it between now and Labour Day at 178
P;R with payback over 0.8 months and no cash rebate whatsoever.
Oh right. There's just that one flaw.
AHHH SCREW IT GIVE ME THE KEYS!!!!

a car with a bathtub
written by alafair, July 08, 2010
I think that water and having a bath are very relaxing, so I'd like to have a car with a..........hydromassage bathtub, like Mini XXL, to relax myself everywhere:

It has also a LCD megascreen, DVD and CD player, radio, air conditioning, leather seats, radiocomunication between the pool and the driver and finally a bar:

This man found another way to use this car:

Ahhh, there are so many choices to enhance your vehicle... I sure wouldn't having a set of wings so I could fly my car to other destinations like a tropical island but than it would also be able to bear and drive on the road when flying is not in the weather... I'd make sure to equip parachutes and ejections seats just for safety!!!!!!! and just add to it it would be able to float and water and work like a boat... so that by sky land or sea... I'd be able to travel!!!!!

One of my vacation ideas is to sit at a cafe reading my favourite books while eating cheesecake.

So I would like to be able to do something like that while I'm on the road.

My car would be equipped with a self-drive and all I have to do is to program my final destination and sit back while the car gets me to my destination. No driver is required (a girl can always dream smilies/grin.gif ). There will be a mini library and a fridge for drinks and desserts. So while my car drives itself, I can sit back, select a book and relax all the way to my destination.

I SO know what I would love to have in a specialized car. So, you know how those new minivans have the table and seats that spin, well that is all well and good for older children but my custom car would be a total baby-toddler paradise --toys that rotate so kids dont get bored with them and of course DVD player, a baby changing station. Have you ever tried changing a diaper in a car? Its terrible
And a playpen (though not for when we're driving, only when we are stopped.
All the seats would have washable removable covers.
hmmm, I think that car would make life much easier!

Wow, this is a tough one, but I tell you what would be super convenient is if it had WiFi!
Mobile Wifi and USB connectors. and car charging laptop outlets!

I have so many mobile devices that I juggle that something is always dying Batteries need longer life.
Road Trip anyone?
written by oogieboogie, July 08, 2010
once I saw a school bus that was converted into a party bus, so you could have a mobile party (driver included as a designated driver)

I think a nice charter buss would be nicer but not like partier party bus, but like a buss equipped for a gathering. it would be perfect for road trips with friends.

And what would make it ultimate is if it was a hybrid bus.
Stargazer
written by fayemaygo, July 08, 2010
My car would have a galaxy of stars twinkling in the interior, not cheezy like but little LEDs and a bed!
It would also have a built in telescope and retractable roof so that I could lay and gaze at the stars or go in for a closer look with the scope and when i get tired I can just sleep in a galaxy of twinkling stars.
"Spa Day"
written by kee kee, July 08, 2010
If I could make renovations to my vehical, I would add a relaxation room. This room would totally be a peaceful haven for me. I have always hated driving, because people do so many dangerous things on the road. Whenever I have to drive on a long trip, I am always stressed out during and after the trip. If I added on a relaxation room, I could get a moment of tranquility during my streesed moments. This wonderful room would include all the following: A mani/pedi station, facial/massage table, steam room, meditation room, yoga room, buffet table with all my favorite treats; like green tea and brownies. Most importantly, this room would be a peaceful place where I can go and destress while on the road. With this type of add on to my car, I'll probably love road trips from now on.

The pet package looks so comfortable, its a brilliant idea, i think i may have to share it .smilies/grin.gif

i would have a speically pottery making package, I think pottery making the traditional way is so much fun because you are able to make individual items, and i like the feeling of getting all gooey with the clay. There was a speical pottery class which i went along to and found it to be a wonderful experience, we had so much fun and i really got such a feeling of accomplishment when i completed it.

When i first tried it i couldnt control the wheel, so i had some weird looking pots, it was really funny, i put my own style and design on it, that did sort of make it look a little more presentable, lol.

It would be a solar powered electric potters wheel or the traditional method, using environmentally friendly natural materials, and ventilation system installed.

i think you can create different style pots because during the car journey you would be moving around and so you can get unique designs.

I would also use the boot of the car to sell the items because i like the fact people can exchange products they dont use, nice way to recycle, and purchase products they cant buy in the shops. its fun way of meeting people, and finding something unusual, and i think the pots would make a nice addition to any household.smilies/cheesy.gif

My car would be customized for traveling,

A mini fridge would be great, Look at this great innovation Ford came up with:

Center Consol fridge!

Though that is a super clever, this is a bit bigger, and pretty cool and it will warm too!

portable oven???
Awesome!

Though I dont know if I would really go for this, it would be very convenient for camping

Something built in would be a little more attractive!

It would be the perfect car for traveling and taking trips,
Everything you need right there

I would add the "artist's package." For someone who is always carrying around canvases, paint palletes, and things that could get messy, I would want something that can protect my car and get my art safe and sound to it's destination.

I would want an art porfolio made of cloth (something like the picture above) that can stick to the inside of my trunk with velcro. It should be big enough to put a decent size dry canvas in there.

A hidden conpartment in the trunk like the one above would be awesome fro wet canvases. That way, nothing gets messy and the painting stays put while one is driving.

Straps in the trunk area would also be great for bigger art projects like sculptures and other installations.

I'd want a drive-in package. I haven't actually been to a drive-in movie, but I have had good times hanging out in a parked car, listening to music, talking, snacking and such. I do, however, have plans on taking the kids to a drive-in movie soon since there a few not too far from where we live. The package would include arm rests, reclining seats, cup holders, and pillow storage. It would also have built in popcorn popper and cooler for drinks or snacks.

My little girl "Sherry" would really love the pet package!!!

I have seen lots of episodes of "Pimp my Ride" so I've seeen lots of beautiful creations!
I really love cars! When I was a child my daddy carry me on the car to let me fall sleep, because only driving around I fell asleep smilies/cheesy.gif so strange isn't it?
So nowadays for me car is really relaxing! I simlpy love stay and travel in Car!

Thinkin about my life It would be great to have a WARDROBE and MAKE UP PACK in my car, so I can take some clothes and shoes and all the thing I want to carry with me! It would be ordered and with some space to add something else I'll buy I go shopping.
When I go to the University and than I've to go out I must come home to change my outfit, I hate it, it takes me long time.
And also I would like a big mirror with some make up I can take on my everywhere smilies/cheesy.gif

Another idea I really would like is a LIVING ROOM PACK!

On the back seat it would be great a soft Couch full of Pillows and a Tv screen with dvd player!!
And don't forget the "fuel" !
A little fridge and a microwave to have something cold to crink and something to cook!
Microwave popcorn, a fresh orange juice and maybe some ice cream watching a movie on the couch!
Where? In our Car!
For me ad my Boyfriend would be paradise smilies/cheesy.gif

Lybrary-bus
written by amigdala.shining, July 14, 2010
Some time ago I read an article running on the Internet, it was about a library-bus! smilies/grin.gif

I found that it was a brilliant idea! smilies/smiley.gif The library bus has been invented in Sweden and it's a bus on which there are shelves full of books to read and buy, films and computer games! The bus is decorated with colorful couches and tables, there are computers, internet, a music listening couch and a small cinema! smilies/shocked.gif

In my opinion this is a very special project! In fact the bus is traveling and it allows people to socialize in a "cultural" way smilies/shocked.gif... In fact people can get on the bus, read, browse texts, buying books, talking and discuss about books!
If I had a car big enough smilies/grin.gif I would love to set up it as the library-bus! It would be great to spend time with friends and family, especially during long and tiring trips ... that without the library construction would certainly be annoying! smilies/wink.gif

This might already exist (in cars fancier than mine) but I'd really love the option of sending A/C to the trunk for those trips home from the market with fresh produce. My trunk is filled with insulated "cooler bags" but even after careful packing (frozen items next to the milk / eggs / veggies / fruits) the sun still raises the temperature enough to speed food spoilage. I wouldn't expect it to be refrigerator cold; just cool enough so I won't worry about my chocolates turning to syrup on the ride home!

I have always joked that those Chevy Avalanches have a "Chihuahua play area" in the back since it is not quite a truck bed and I am not sure how handy it really is (just by looking at it- I have never actually used one)
But a real pet play area in a car would be so fun!
Flower Car revised!
written by mortgana, July 14, 2010
So I dont know if you are familiar with the "Flower Car"

from wikipedia:
"A flower car is a type of vehicle used in the funeral industry, used to carry flowers for the burial service, or sometimes to carry the coffin under a bed of flowers. Built on the same commercial chassis as a hearse, the flower car has half-height rear bodywork on the rear similar to a pickup truck bed."

I love the idea of live flowers cascading down the back of your car, so my "flower car revised" would be for the living- ratther like a "living garden car"

I just really think those cars are so beautiful it would be nice if it were associated with something living smilies/smiley.gif
