The Case Of the Unwanted Bags: Natural Remedies For Eyes

It’s common for adults to experience sleep loss and with it comes puffy eyes and dark under-eye circles. As unfortunate as the situation can be, take comfort in knowing that there are remedies. Here’s how you can survive life’s demands without looking like you came from zombie wonderland.

When we have an insufficient water intake, our body retains water to ensure that there will be some left to use for important bodily processes like turning our fats into energy. The water is retained in different parts of our body, including the under-eye area, which makes the eyes look puffy. This is why the good ol' tip of drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day is a practice you should not skip.

Raw Potato

Potatoes have astringent properties that eliminate water under your eyes, making it look less puffy. Another known property of potatoes is its bleaching ability. It can also nourish the sensitive skin under your eyes, thanks to its Vitamin C!

How to use: Wash, peel and slice the potatoes. Cool it for 10 to 15 minutes in the refrigerator. When it is cold enough, set the two slices on your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse your eyes with cool water afterwards.

Tea Bags

Teas have anti-inflammatory properties that can help decrease eye puffiness. The same caffeine you love in your black teas are your helpers in lightening that pesky dark under-eye skin. So think twice before throwing out your tea bags.

How to use: After steeping two tea bags, put them on a clean saucer and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Once they are cold enough, put one tea bag gently over each eyelid. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse your eyes with cool water afterwards.
